Postponing my September wedding and a few vendors are not responding

Karen, on June 7, 2020 at 11:18 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

This is frustrating or am I being impatient. I have contacted most of my vendors about moving my date to next spring and I put deposits down in January pre-covid-19. I sent the emails Friday as my DJ, Officiant, and Florist are onboard with my new date of May 16th. I still need to hear from my day of coordinator who was responsive at first, I sent her an email directly and nothing over the weekend and tried again on Thumbtack and it showed she was online but still no answer. My caterer I sent the email to 2 people on Friday and I know they were open that day and I did not get a response as it was unlike them since they were very responsive in corresponding with me January and February with sending me different proposals and signing the contract. The contract stated that the deposit locks the date but their is a cancellation fee as it's vague and I don't know if that applies to moving the date. I put over a $1,000 down already. As for the day of coordinator I put down $100 and I don't care about losing $100 if she does not care to respond and I could hire somebody else. I just want to be able to secure the date since me and a lot of other brides are moving their 2020 dates to next year although my wedding is a Sunday morning so it's less competition but still. What should I do going forward? Thanks for the help and support.

I'm not sure I understand; did you just send emails on Friday, June 5?

I definitely empathize with you right now - rescheduling is so unbelievably stressful! It's totally reasonable that you'd want answers ASAP. But I don't expect vendor responses over the weekend and emailing Friday isn't giving them a lot of time to respond. Most vendors work the weekends, too, and on top of the current crazy events, I would give them a little longer to respond before being frustrated.

Thanks for the insite I just needed to vent as I will give them a few more days. My venue put my May date that I'm shooting for on a 2 week hold to give me time. I will give them a little more time I was just stressed since I had them put together then this crisis and my elderly FMIL who is reluctant to attend on our original date as well as other older people with health conditions on my Fiance's side. I want a wedding with eveyone there rather than an elopement and hurt feelings. Thanks again!
