Postponed Wedding Reception Attire Due to Covid19

Robyn, on April 22, 2020 at 8:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 7

So we’re doing a 10 person ceremony in June where I will wear my wedding dress, but what about for our postponed wedding reception for when we can gather in large groups again - probably next year for our anniversary. Should I wear my wedding dress again? Since I’m already a married woman at that point I can’t wear it again, right? Or maybe I opt for another white or ivory outfit for the reception? I’m torn and can provide arguments for both camps - would love to hear what you all are planning to do or what you can recommend.

We're thinking about eloping and having the reception or a full vow renewal at a later date. It's not a corona postponement, but a life postponement. I plan on wearing my wedding dress to the reception or renewal at a later date. I mean... I paid a lot of money for it, so if there's a way I can wear it for a Halloween costume or something later on, I'll do that too xD. It's a dress, wear it as many time as you want, and as makes sense.

Wear it again! You're the bride - you can wear whatever you want.

I've kept mine, I'm probably going to just walk around the house in it, because, again, why not?

It's really a matter of what *you* feel comfortable in... but I would totally wear it again if I were you.

I would wear it again! Due to the circumstances, I see no reason why you shouldn't. You bought that dress for your wedding that all of these reception guests would have been ad if Covid had not happened. I think they would all love to see you in your wedding gown.

I would totally wear my wedding dress again! Smiley love But it's your call!

You can also take a look around online to see if there are other dress options you're drawn to, but you can definitely wear your wedding dress again. "Typical etiquette" doesn't fully apply to weddings affected by Covid-19!

Thanks everyone - yeah I’m going to go for it! The only reason I need to consider this now is that if I’m not going to wear it next year for the wedding reception, then she doesn’t need to add the bustle and make the straps removable. So the dress will actually look a little different since the train won’t be so long so it will give it new life, but for the ceremony, I will have a ridiculously long train and cathedral veil so it will almost feel like a different dress anyway.

Thanks for all the encouragement and advice, everyone!

LoL I love that! I think I’m going to find myself randomly sauntering around the house in my wedding dress for kicks and giggles so my fiancé can look at me like I’m crazy!
