Postponed wedding due to Covid-19

Jacquinete, on March 15, 2020 at 8:06 PM Posted in Planning 1 17

My FH and I have decided to postpone our May 8 wedding. We chose a date in August. We felt like it was the most responsible thing to do for everyone involved. It is already stressful planning a wedding, but this is crazy! How is everyone else coping with this stress?

You’ll probably be happier in the long run, but I know things are terrible now. Try to take some time for yourself and remember to make time for date nights with your FS, date nights in times of stress are all the more important (even if it is just in your home watching a movie or playing a game).

We made the same decision ours was April 18th. Very stressful and lots of people still wanted to keep our date but we had to make the call now to keep from scrambling later. With the news just saying to cancel or postpone events larger than 50 ppl, I know we made the right decision. Looking at June or September but most likely September with the 8 weeks most are saying it will take to flatten the curve.

I agree with Lauren. Our date was 4/4, and we're in the middle of a hot spot in Dallas. It sucks, and I'm heartbroken that we have to wait longer. But it was either that or miss out on family. Much sympathy and good vibes your way! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.

Ugh ours is May 22, which is basically 8 weeks from now so it could go either way. I feel so bad for everyone having to cancel. It will be worth the wait for us though! ❤️💜

Our date is June 20 and I'm freaking out. The initiations are at the proofing point and should be mailed mid-April under normal circumstances. Any other indecisive June brides out there? What are you considering?

Hey all- feeling the anxiety for sure. We’re May 16th which seems to be right on the cusp.. we’re hoping things clear up in NYC by end of April but are obviously taking it day-by-day— hard to predict the outcome and the timelines of this..

Our date is July 24th. We're holding off for now in hopes everything will be over by then. Deep down, still kinda concerned though. Sending love to all the late-March, April and May brides being impacted at this moment ❤️

June 13th here....very anxiously waiting it out for the next month or so before making any calls. It's just so saddening to have to change plans that we've looked forward to for this long. We decided if the worst case scenario happened we would still get married in the courthouse or by our officiant in our parents backyard and postpone the vow renewal/party until later in the summer. My heart goes out to everyone having to postpone and change their big day 😢

My wedding is May 30th and I am trying to stay calm.. I’m on the fence about how to go forward. I’m not so worried about cancelling or postponing, I just want to be able to get my money back from different vendors and have my family around for my special day!

That’s our wedding date as well. I’m hoping that everything will be better by then. If worse comes to worse my aunt is a JP and we will get married that day with a small ceremony and then have a “church wedding” and party at a later date

We postpone our wedding. It was scheduled for March 27th. I’m heartbroken but it’s for the best. Our venue and vendors were very helpful and understanding.

Instead of cancelling our June 20th wedding, we added a line to our reply cards (which were still at the proofing stage) for guests to include an email address. On our website I added a "FAQ" about how we'll address Covid-19 concerns and answered that guests should be sure to include their email on the reply card so we can send updates.

We're moving forward in the hope that it will all work out. If we do need to cancel, we plan to still get married on our date at the courthouse and postpone the reception.

Mines May 22, I am heartbroken but I also know I have no control over it. I considered doing the courthouse as well but a lot of the town halls are closed so I'm not sure if we can even get a marriage license to do that.
