Postponed wedding coming up, reassure me!

Ari, on March 30, 2021 at 11:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hi all!

So we postponed last year and we are moving forward this May, no matter what. RSVPS are trickling in. Some surprise yes responses and some surprise no’s. Our state moved from 50 to 150 guests right before we sent our invites (NY) so we sent all 125. I’m thinking we will be more in the 75 range, which I’m actually really happy about. My only worry is what it will be like. For those of you who have moved forward and wouldn’t consider your wedding a “minimony” did people dance, socialize (within restrictions of course). Part of me says whoever responded yes feels comfortable coming, and many have booked hotel rooms. I guess I just fear it being: ceremony, empty dance spaces, formal events (special dances, cake, etc) and people leave early. Would love to hear your thoughts as a guest or those who have moved forward. Thanks for reading!

Hi Ari! Good news - at our wedding no one wanted to leave! Lol Guests hung out till after the crew cleaned up and the music stopped. We invited 162 and 104 were at the reception. ❤️

Ah! Congratulations to you on your marriage! Thank you for sharing this! It is so reassuring. I’m really hoping that people will be desperate to dance and have fun. Masked dancing wasn’t as awkward as it sounds in my head?

We are getting married on the same day so I can’t give any input on how things turned out:-) But with the rate of vaccinations things are slowly starting to feel normal again. As of now, I’m not too worried about it. Probably because I’m in the thick of planning. Also, I’m getting married in Texas and covid restrictions are extremely lenient down here.

Love your energy, Donna! I’m going to have to borrow some of that positivity and focus you have! I know it’s out of our control, so it’s best to plan and sit back and enjoy it. How are your RSVPS coming along?

Now that’s my stress point:-) I just ordered my invitations today and will have to quickly get them out once I get them. Almost all of my family and friends are aware of the date and are planning to come. FH on the other hand worries me. He has a big family and insisted on inviting his aunts. I’m hoping everyone play by the rules and only include plus 1. Fortunately for us their is another family event on that day. We were bummed out about it at first but now I see it as a blessing in disguise.

I think the people who are attending probably will feel a bit safer danving and socializing and will want to. I think it will be fun still

We are moving forward in May after postponing too. I don't feel we are out of the woods yet, but I have felt a major shift since I allowed myself to start worrying about his in January. January seemed bleak, but now things seem hopeful. Most of the RSVP's so far have been YES and a lot of people we know have been vaccinated and everyone will pretty much have access to getting one in my state by April 1st. I think we can finally have a (masked) dance floor and I'm thinking that things will ok. I wish we didn't have to worry about this, but we are making the best of it and it will feel great to be able to move on! We've been engaged since Nov 2018.

You’re welcome Ari! Guests did dance at our wedding and it wasn’t awkward at all! We did have additional significant dances to minimize the open dance floor time, but guests danced towards the end. Guests stayed within their households on the dance floor (we have very cautious families) but by our photos you couldn’t tell. We were told by several guests how safe they felt and it was a morale booster.
For what it’s worth, when I see someone without a mask, I find that strange now 😂
