Postponed reception-what about the bridal party?

Miranda, on March 29, 2020 at 12:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
We’re looking at postponing our May 2nd wedding reception to a later date and continuing with our wedding ceremony . What do we do with our bridal party if we can only have 10
at our wedding? Everyone has clothes and everything ready to go.

I wouldn’t include the bridal party in the ceremony.

I would have another ceremony to renew your vows so that everything can visit you getting married.

Keep this ceremony small and not have a bridal party at all. Down the road, I would have the actual wedding/reception. Even though you may be using verbiage more for a vow renewal, I think you would be able to have your wedding party join in!

I think later on down the road you can do a photo shoot with your bridal and groom parties!

I would just postpone everything (or, have a virtual ceremony with just the two of you and have a re-do ceremony with your bridal party later on when you have your reception). It is really not safe to be gathering with your bridal party on May 2--this is way too soon. Maybe you can find a way to include them virtually, like via Zoom? We are not supposed to gather with anyone outside of our household if we have any hope of flattening the curve. I'm really sorry that you have to go through this Smiley sad

We also had to postpone our big wedding. Our MOH and Best Man are going to be present for our private ceremony on 4/25, and our bridal party will wear their outfits when we have our reception in June

In your situation I would proceed with the private ceremony without them because your numbers are so restricted. But since they already have what they were going to wear, I would still include them as the bridal party at the reception later on. You could still have a bridal party entrance into the reception and a head table where they could join you. I'm sure they will understand given the very unusual circumstances you're under right now.
