Posting wedding dress before wedding

I don’t know anyone who has, but I don’t necessarily think it’s tacky. I think it’s personal preference. I personally don’t see a reason to show the world, especially people who won’t be attending. People who will be attending can see it when it matters. My MOH and mom were there when I picked it. I showed two other people, and the rest will see it that day. They don’t need to see it ahead of time, especially because I don’t want unsolicited opinions about it or about how I should accessorize it. My fiancé will see it during our first look, and neither of us want him to see it ahead of time.

I showed my moh but didn't post it. I haven't seen it done before either but that doesn't mean it's never happened. Like the pp said, people tend to shell out opinions and most women want the "grand reveal" so they keep the dress to themselves. Do what makes you happy though, it's your wedding.

Post it here? Yes, we love it and don't talk to your family and friends. Please do.
But on social media, never, not even what you think is a limited view page.

I posted on here just yesterday to try and prevent myself from sharing with people I know who didn't go shopping with me. Feel free to post it here, but I would not share anywhere else.

I agree with the previous comments - I wouldn't post it on social media (though a "I Said Yes To The Dress!" post without the dress in the picture is always fun!). You could always post it on these forums if none of your friends/family also check the forums. If you really wanted to post it on social media or otherwise share it with your friends/family, go for it! Though, be aware that some people might make unsolicited comments (maybe your dress isn't the style they would choose, or they try to give suggestions on how you should wear your hair or what accessories you should buy, etc). If you are looking to avoid ruining the big reveal of your dress, or if you want to avoid unsolicited opinions, I would keep it off social media until after your wedding.

I showed my coworkers who wanted to see it, or some immediate family! And I posted it here! Definitely post it here you’ll get out the feeling of wanting everyone to see! But I wouldn’t post it on your social media, everyone will eventually see it! And you wouldn’t want people commenting about it infront of your significant other before the big day!

I love seeing people’s dresses and I don’t think it’s tacky at all to post. I would just make sure it’s posted so that your fiancée can’t see it.

Hello! I said yes to the dress and I was wondering the same thing. All my bridesmaids took little snippets and asked permission because everyone is so excited. I want to so bad but not sure if it’s weird lol.
