Post office problems...

Kim, on January 3, 2014 at 6:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

IDK ehat is going on, but I've had like 3 or 4 people tell me they didn't get my STD's I sent out. One of my really good girlfriends thought she wasn't invited. One of my bridesmaids asked if if she was invited and I said "Umm...yeah. her and her bf are invited" and she said "well you may want to text her because she didn't know what was going on." I hope we don't have this problem with the invitations...

That is so annoying. I had someone receive the STD but never received the invitation...so weird!

Yeah it would be one thing if it was just one person, but 4? I know I had the right addresses and postage. My bridesmaid got married in September and she said a few people didn't get her invitations. So strange.

I hate to say USPS sucks, b/c overall I don't think it does, but some post offices-- there's zero pride in doing a good job. Smiley sad

Were they post cards or enveloped?

I think some of my post cards got shuffled into the pages of catalogs or something...

I had the same thing- Save the Dates and Invitations that were addressed properly never made it. I had postcard save the dates so more of those didn't arrive but only a few invitations. Guess you can't avoid it unless you hand deliver them! Smiley smile

They were envelopes, but they were sort of small. Oh well. Hopefully enough of our friends/family know our date from fb and word of mouth!

Hate them. I sent one of my brides our contract in OCTOBER and no one at the USPS can tell us where it is. Like duh, it comes in a box. Where the hell is it?

There must be a hole in the universe for lost mail like there is for socks that get lost in the dryer, lol!

Your story is a lot better than mine.... I've had AT LEAST 4 people tell me that the save the date was tampered with, one guest received hers in a plastic bag with an apology letter from usps, another guest received the envelope which had been opened.....WITH NO STD INSIDE another guest said she received 2 one addressed to her and another addressed to another guest, AND ANOTHER. Guest said hers was opened and found a $50 GC for cracker barrel ( that I did not send BTW) I guess in her case it was a good thing. I've been on the phone tryna figure out what the heck is going on..... I still have dozens that said they still have not received theirs. I'm guessing theirs will be tampered With as well! Sorry to take your post lol I just been extremely pissed at the post office

Oh my goodness! That is crazy! It sounds like someone was going through and opening mail. Maybe they thought they were wedding cards with $$ in them. I'm sorry that really sucks! You should come back and update us once the post office gets back to you.

Ahh that stinks! It's like you put all the work into getting those created and sent out..then they don't even make it!

And this isn't quite the same..but still Post Office!

Was expecting my veil in the mail today but the post office didn't deliver because the mail box was "unreachable". I do understand the rule that your box has to shoveled clear of snow so the mail truck can reach it, and that's what I was doing all morning!

A lot of smaller cards and envelopes get lost in the mail...I have this problem often with our holiday cards. I always bundle lots of cards together with a rubber band and hand them to a postal worker instead of dropping them in the slot or leaving them in the mailbox with the red thing up. I know they'll take the rubber band off, but at least they're all together for a little while and don't get shuffled up.

I deal with USPS at work (I work in a bill print and mail center) and we frequently find pieces of mail stuck in trays (the postal servies sorts mail by area in trays, and once "empty" they stack them and send them to their clients to reuse), I've seen everything from postcards to letter size envelopes left in the trays. And if the trays arent sent to a client to used they just sit in a warehouse.

Kim you're in Baltimore? I'm in charge of a lot of our printed mail pieces for work and have a hell of a time with the post office, especially around Christmas time when there's such larger amount of stuff being sent. The small size is probably part of the issue too. I would resend anyway but they might end up getting the originals.

On the other hand, a few years ago my work got back an invitation they sent in the 70s.... sooo... who knows. Total pain in the ass.

Did you mail them around the holidays, that would explain A LOT.

Mail has been stolen from personal curbside mailboxes.

Mail has been stolen from the big blue box outside the P.O.

I take my mail inside the P.O. for sending out.

Years ago, the organization where I worked sent out invitations. We were not getting back RSVPs. No one had received an invitation. Told the P.O. (where the mail had been dropped off). They did a search and found a bag they thought was empty and inside were the invitations.

I had issues after we moved.I was waiting on a letter from DH and it didn't come when it was suppose to.I thought maybe because of veterans day it got delayed or that he had set it down meaning to mail it out and forgot.so then I finally get a letter but it's not the right date.when I went to visit I asked if he remembered to send it out and he said he did.finally I got the letter which he had written before the one I received.the mail lady asked my mom if I lived here when she gave her the letter.it's like I've changed my address with you guys and have received and sent several letters yes I live here.
