Post destination wedding reception

Elizabeth, on February 11, 2021 at 12:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hey! So we’re getting married 10+ hours from where we’ll live (I’m relocating to where he lives/works in our LDR). I don’t have a lot of friends/family to invite to our wedding anyway. But his church and big extended family wants to be a part of our wedding without driving so far.
Is a second (more casual) reception a good idea?? Does anyone have tips on how or what to do??

Where is your wedding in relation to his family and church family? A post wedding reception is not a bad idea if that’s what you’d like to do to celebrate with his family that can’t make it to the wedding. My husband and I are hosting low key parties in our hometowns. We had a micro wedding (20 people) about 3 hours from my hometown and about 7 hours from his. We’re not having formal receptions but rather watch parties in our hometowns to watch our wedding videos once they come in. We’re pretty low key and don’t want another formal reception. We plan to serve BBQ and call them “the I DO BBQs.”

You could definitely do a post wedding reception with the larger crew!

You could also think about streaming the wedding ceremony if you wanted to include them in that way! ❤️

I think something casual and celebratory would be perfect! You could cut a mini cake again and do drinks, snacks, and mingling!

That’s a great idea! Thanks! The way you put it makes it sound way more fun than how I was. Lol

I think a casual reception would be fine. It's wonderful to be surrounded by people who want to be a part of your day - especially in these sadly isolated times. Our situation is similar and we're planning a casual reception at our home a week after our destination wedding.
