Are you looking to bring your own caterer or do you want to supply food that you have made? If you are looking to find a place that will allow you to bring food that you've made, I think you are going to have an extremely difficult time. Making your own food comes with a ton of liability issues especially with Covid going on so venues are less likely to allow this because they in no way want to be responsible for your guests getting sick. Also from what I know about California, venues aren't cheap. My husband's best friend lives in California and that's where he is getting married next year and they've spent a ton of money on this wedding as California is one of the most expensive places to get married. The other downside is that a lot of weddings have been postponed until next year so the selection for venues is going to be more limited.

Hi Veronica ! Thanks we are looking to have either pizza and pasta or a taco guy. My fiancé and I are not these 3 course meal people and I know I would not enjoy it if we went that route.

So are you looking to just order pizzas, pasta and tacos and just bringing them there yourself or do you plan on hiring a caterer that will provide servers? If you are looking to just order food and bring it yourself, I think the only type of venues that would really allow this would be like a park or firehall because of liability issues. If you are looking to hire a caterer to provide this type of food then I think you will have more options as to the type of venues you could look for. I know a lot of venues either have their own in-house catering or have a list of preferred caterers. I know for my brother's wedding they had talked about having a taco bar for their wedding that their caterer would provide. For our wedding, our late night snack was a nacho bar and our venue's in-house catering provided the food.

Your best bet is to find a community center, city park with facilities, VA Hall, etc. for the reception. They allow you to bring in your own food/caterer. My daughter got married in August in CA (Bay Area) and her venue was under $5,000.

    L.A.? San Diego? Desert?

Take a look at Eventective.com. Also blank slate venues where you bring in your own vendors will not have food/beverage minimums and you can toss out any extras you don't want to save money.

I would check community centers, fire halls, & hotels.
