Positive moments in planning

Michelle, on July 7, 2021 at 2:41 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Everyone talks about wedding planning being so stressful. What have been the good, positive moments you have had? Is it finding vendors or ideas that you and fiancé both love? Or is it reconnecting with family/friends you haven’t seen in awhile? Connecting with your fiancé?

Sharing ideas with my best friend and seeing her be just as excited (she lives in another state so I can't see her often) and not really having any difficulties finding vendors I loved.

I loved every part of wedding planning. The research of vendors, the selection, the narrowing down of details; I enjoyed it all. Since our wedding didn't come to planned fruition due to the circumstances of last year, I'm now using my planning prowess to host my sister's baby shower this Saturday. I've loved coming up with a cohesive design and implementing all aspects of it. Can't wait to see it come to life this weekend!

So far the most fun part is seeing everything we've imagined for our day coming together. We both started off essentially feeling like our wedding was just to appease parents but the more thought and effort we've put into it the more it's really become our vision of a great day! We're both also super looking forward to the mini-moon we've planned and the later honeymoon!

For me it was seeing my fiancé comfort me when I was stressed. We were planning in the height of COVID and had to change our plans a few times. He was amazing at giving me comfort when I was sad and always trying to stay positive. It made me feel even more excited to marry him.

Moments when my friends stepped up to help me really made me feel gratitude and relief. for instance my friend helped me paint my canvases to use for guest thumbprints. she's got an art degree and she's an artist and so that just made me feel relieved as something less i had to do

Finding my dress (unfortunately a week after we got engaged), and planning the skit, writing my vows, cake tasting, and menu tasting. (Bonus for the venue coordinator who was really open about making sure problematic people were neutralized... if they showed up.)

I hated everything else. Even putting together the centerpieces. I liked what we did with them, but it was messy and exhausting, and that was supposed to be the creative bit!

I enjoyed most parts of planning, but our tasting was probably my favorite part. The food was SO good and I didn’t eat on our wedding day, so I was so glad after I had had a chance to try it all!

Not done with wedding planning yet, but just looking for inspiration and making all the decorations myself - the crafting has been so relaxing

One unexpected thing I've encountered is my parents being so excited for my wedding, it's sweet! I just didn't expect them to be so interested in the planning process, as they're pretty laid back and have never pressured me to get married or anything. It's also fun to share ideas with my fiancé and build a vision together of what our day will look like.

I love this discussion! My dear FH is not very vocal with his feelings, and he's not at all affectionate. I mean he never goes a day without saying I love you, and he never leaves the house without a kiss, but he's not a hand-holding, hugging kind of guy. I'm a hopeless romantic, so it has taken some getting used to for me. So I would have to say my favorite part about this whole adventure is when we're talking with a vendor and he tells them things like "if she's happy, then I'm happy" or "It's all for her, she's worth every penny, and then some" or "I'm the lucky one, she's beautiful in every way." Ugh...my heart just melts!!
