Poll: Drunk unruly guests at your wedding?

Original VC, on March 29, 2016 at 11:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 47

Married ladies and gentlemen: Did you have any guests get too drunk at your wedding? Did any of these guests cause any damage?

I started this poll on an existing thread, but figured maybe this would be more useful for those who fear having an open or limited bar will result in completely wasted guests and hundreds of dollars in damage and liabilities.

At my wedding, we had, at most, five people who got *too* drunk. None of them caused any damages or liability to the venue or our stuff. None did anything too crazy. Around 1 a.m. a girl started yelling at her boyfriend because he's not loving enough. DH's cousin sneaked into my BMs limo and tried to ride with them, because he fell in love with two of them.

That's the "worst" that happened, which as you can see, wasn't too bad.

I posted this on an earlier thread- my FH's cousin had bridesmaids that were totally wasted and had a fight on the dance floor, and a good friend had a couple of groomsmen set a table on fire. Probably not a good idea to mix drunk frat guys and legit candles anyway.

I have only seen two or three in all of my weddings, and I would estimate that at close to 1500 with officiating and catering.

Not married yet, but part of a social group that LOVES to booze. The worst things I've ever seen are someone peeing in the parking lot at the end of the reception and falling into a bush while dancing at an outdoor wedding. Neither were in good taste (particularly the public urination), but neither caused an issue or liability with the venue.

I was the really drunk one at my brother's wedding and had a fucking blast. No damages, but awesome pictures of me thinking I was a much better dancer than I actually am. I passed out on the bus back to the hotel. No harm, no foul. Just one wicked hangover.

ETA: At my sister's wedding, someone threw up in a hotel trash can during the after party. That's about as bad as it got.

We had 300 guests and no one was unruly. A couple of groomsmen were no doubt wasted but they maintained themselves. We had beer, wine, vodka and cognac.

I got way too drunk at my wedding hahaha

there were a few others as well, one fell out of the hot tub later in the night. No one damaged anything, ruined anything, etc. They left and went to bed like responsible adults do when they've had too much to drink.

My mom had the potential to be drunk but the worst she would have done is talk loudly and/or get sick.

Instead she did that at the rehearsal dinner and was too hungover to drink at the wedding haha.

Out of the 220 people who attended we had 2 people get a little out of hand (both our siblings). Nothing was damaged and they really where nothing more than a little obnoxious toward the end of the night. I have seen weddings with people that I would consider too drunk but never seen it cause a problem for the bride and groom. Normally its just some extra entertainment.

The last wedding I went to, there was one guy that got angry drunk- my fiancé (who was playing bouncer) quickly escorted him out and that was the end of that issue.

I don't say this jokingly, but a pretty big portion of our friends are very heavy drinkers to the point where there is cause to be concerned. Those statistics about lawyers and substance abuse . . . yeah. So, I don't mean to make light of this, but even with a good % of our guests being some of the heaviest drinkers I know, no, nothing was damaged. No fights. Nothing crazy. One friend kind of tripped on her way out and the venue manager insisted on making sure she got into a cab (with her boyfriend who was pretty sober), but that was about the extent of it.

At one wedding I went to by the beach, one of the girls got really drunk and jumped into the ocean. But she was fine, and the only person bothered by it was her boyfriend. Lol.

I've only seen ONE guy get so drunk he passed behind the sweetheart table. He didn't damage anything. The night was about over but they just left him there the last hour.

We had a premium open bar, and had no issues with "too drunk" guests. We even continued the party after the reception at our hotel bar with no issues! We provided a shuttle to/from the hotel and our venue so that our guests could celebrate with us responsibly.

We had about 90 people with two alcoholics. No incidents on site but our friend left with some kids who had to make her pull over. my BIL left to pick them up and drove her home. I found this out the next day. Outside of that, everyone had a great time.

My coworker got really drunk and stumbled around while her husband held her up. Haha. No damages. My uncle got pretty drunk but made it to the after party where he fell asleep on a couch. Some people got high and ate a bunch of hushpuppies. It's not that serious. We don't even drink!
