Pneumonia... 3 weeks before the wedding!!!

Victoria, on February 1, 2018 at 7:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

I just need to vent - I came down with pneumonia, just three weeks before the wedding. Does anyone have any tips/tricks on feeling better or at least not sounding/looking like a train wreck? Dr said it takes 2-3 weeks to knock the virus out and that it is hard to say how long I'll have symptoms for.

Feel better soon! I'd say try to rest as much as you can, and look into vitamins you can take?

First I wanted to say I’m sorry that really sucks and I hope you feel better before the wedding. Try to be as nice to yourself as possible in the next few weeks, so try not to stress( I know easier said than done), drink LOTS of water, eat good food, I know when I’m sick I often resort to junk food and that just makes you feel worse, have the FH make a big pot of your favorite soup or something, and most importantly lots of sleep. If you have a cough and sore throat/hoarseness by the wedding still try drinking tea with honey throughout the day and rest your voice as much as possible the days before the wedding. They make a really great natural cough syrup with honey, ginger and other throat soothing stuff as well if you have that in your local store, and if your cough is really bad still definitely ask your doctor for some prescription cough suppressant pills. Good luck and hopefully you’re all better by the wedding!

I did get antibiotics, so hopefully that'll help. I had just written it off as the flu for the first five days. Thanks for the well wishes.

Ugh! I had pneumonia about 3 years ago. Mine might have been a little worse though because the misdiagnosed it as bronchitis at first. Once you’re on the road back to recovery, it gets better. Did they give you a nebulizer? That helped me a lot. I think you’ll be just fine for your wedding day. I know it sucks but hang in there! Get well soon!

Follow your antibiotic regimen closely, add probiotics to your regimen (the antibiotics wipe out the food and bad bacteria) lots and lots of water !!!!! Take walks. Keep warm. I’m an RN . Praying for you 💗💗💗💗

I'm not sure how to help you get over it but emergenC will give you a big boost of vitamin d and c which you'll need. I do however suggest if you are still a little tired at your rehearsal do like me and my FH are doing and change your ceremony to a sit down one. Have you and your FH in chairs facing your guests and the officiant with a mic facing you. His back will be to the crowd but they are there to see you not him.. work out how he will walk in at rehearsal. This will give you a much needed 30-45 min break between the preceremony pictures and the post ceremony pictures before you have time to sit at the reception. We are doing it because I'm disabled and FH has bad knees.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you have pneumonia. I'm glad to hear that you got some antibiotics though. Rest, fluids, and taking vitamins or probiotics will help along with honey and hot tea as well as lots of soup or broth to help with your cough and throat. I am sick myself and have a severe upper respiratory cold and cough and laryngitis too, my Dr. gave me a steroid but am still on the mend. I know it's frustrating a few weeks before your wedding, I'm getting married on 2/24/18 so I know how you feel. Don't beat yourself up about it, just rest and take it easy so that you can strengthen your immunity before your big day and designate others to help you out while you are sick, that will help alleviate some of your stress as well. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Smiley heart
