Please help me decide what color dress MOB and MOG should wear!!

Hiswifey, on January 9, 2014 at 10:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 21

I am getting married on Aug 9, 2014, woo hoo! My colors are PLUM ( well David's bridal Lapis), Apple Green and silver. My dress is Ivory. The bridesmaids dresses are going to be plum and they'll wear silver shoes. My mother wants to wear Mocha/ brown. I don't see where mocha ties in?? My 2 flower girls will wear ivory dresses with apple green sashes and carry a Apple green pomander. Thanks for your input!

Does it have to tie in? My colors are blue and purple with silver and white accents. my girls are in blue. my mom wanted purple, so that worked out well. i didn't really care what the MOG wore as long is it didn't stand out too much (like red or something). she ended up with a muted silver, but i'm not sure it really matters?

I think mocha would look nice. You don't want her to match the bridesmaids and wear plum or to wear ivory so unless she is interested in wearing the green, I think mocha would work with your colors.

I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the MOB and the MOG matched the wedding colors. Do they have to match? I'm letting them pick their own wardrobe and not to concerned if they go with the theme. I'm pretty sure neither will pick something outrageous.

MOB and MOG do not have to tie in to the wedding colors. You don't want them to match the colors really because they will look like members of the wedding party and not the mothers.

Mocha will look lovely with this palate as will espresso or chocolate. Mom dresses don't have to match, but it's nice for them to "go".

They aren't supposed to match the wedding colors. They are the parents, not part of the wedding party. They wear what they want as long as it is appropriate for he venue. Generally, they don't wear the same color and the MOB gets to choose her color first.

My colors are yellow and gray and the mothers will be wearing dresses in the purple shades. It doesn't need to tie in, just "go with" the colors. I think mocha will be beautiful with your already beautiful colors!

Okay, you all are my sanity savers, lol. sounds like the consensus is for them to wear what they want. I thought that their dresses had to tie in.

One other question. Do the mothers dress colors have to match each other? If MOB wears mocha can MOG wear say lavender? This is stressing me out.

MOG should NOT wear the same color as the MOB. MOB should choose her color first, and MOG should avoid that color.

The MOG and MOB do not have to match or coordinate at all. My mom is wearing a bright blue dress with rhinestones on the edges and my FMIL is wearing a silver dress with purple flower print with a hat which is less modern looking than my mom's outfit. They just bought what they liked. I don't think it's a huge issue. Smiley smile

My mom and his mom want to wear the same color so I'm like whatever. I had originally wanted my dad to wear a gray tux like the bridal party, but he loves his New black suit, and is comfortable in it, so I'm going to let him wear it. They've raised me for 25 years they can wear whatever they want Smiley smile All I asked was something a bit more formal than what she wears for say church for my mom since my dad will be in a suit and all My siblings are in the bridal party so we will all be pretty dressed up and I didn't want her to feel underdressed.

I have been a MOB and a MOG. =) My daughter simply wanted me to coordinate in photos, and not stand out like a sore thumb. (think lime green or bright pink!) I also walked her down the aisle, so coordinating was super important. I wore black with silver grey highlights and it looked amazing. At my son's wedding, we had a dress fiasco and I had to choose a new one, the day before. I ended up walking in with a dress that was nearly the same color as my DIL's MOH and was mortified! She kept reassuring me that it was FINE...and not to worry. I felt horrible. But the photos...well, they all look amazing and we coordinate so well, it looks like it was planned. LOL

Let Mom's just pick what they LOVE and will feel GREAT in...it will add to your wonderful experience! It's a VERY special day for them, too!
