Please ease my mind with a late Sunday wedding?

Brandi, on March 10, 2020 at 12:43 AM Posted in California Planning 0 12
Hi everyone!
I’ve always wanted a summer evening wedding.
The venue we chose had a Sunday available July 19th, that was the most convenient to us. We booked it, taking into consideration that it will be on a Sunday. The time would be 5-11pm (reception and ceremony). We chose these times because it will be hot during the day, so I think. This would actually help my predicament, Is anyone familiar with Moraga, CA? How’s the weather around that time? I’ve looked it up and it says high of 78 last year. Anyway the drive is generally an hour away from where most people live. My question is, was this the right move? I want to make my guest happy. Are the times too late? Should I push the times back a couple hours? It’s been bothering me a little. Please help! I need advice 😔 thank you!

I personally would attend but as soon as dinner was over I’d be on my way home. Most will need to work the next day.

Sunday is fine but I would do 3-8 (or 9 pm). We’d have to leave by 8ish to get ready for the week.

I went to a wedding on Sunday where reception is 6p and I left at around 8p or 830p because I didn’t want to stay too late. So people will come but they might have to leave early

Yeah, I figured a majority of people will leave early.

I see nothing wrong with it being a Sunday, but guests may not stay til 11. If it’s an hour drive, it would be midnight when they got home and then have to get up to work.

I agree, no issue with it being on a Sunday, just the time frame I have for the event on a Sunday.
Heres to put it in more perspective
    Cocktail hour 5-6 ceremony 6-7 reception 7-10
3pm-11pm is for setup and cleanup Doesn’t seem too bad, right?

Turn it around. You are a guest at this wedding. Would you stay til the end? Would you take Monday off to attend? Yes, you want your guest to enjoy your big day, so why not have it end at 8?! That will give you and your husband more time to enjoy the evening alone

    You’re right.
I did the invitations already so that’s why I’m hesitant to change the time but luckily I have not sent them out, and luckily they were cheap and shipped to me super quick. I’ll push the time back a couple hours.
I gotta make my guest happy ☺️ Thank you!

We’re doing the same thing. Sunday wedding in the summer from 5-11pm. I know that some people won’t stay. But I also know who will stay to party with us. I had my apprehensions about it too. But I’ve decided to roll with it.

    Yes yes yes!
We did push it back only 1 hour.
Majority of our guest will stay and have a good time drinking and dancing. Congratulations by the way!
