Please bring XYZ to the bridal shower?

Iulia, on May 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

I've seen brides ask for recipes or seasonings in their bridal shower invite for everyone to bring.

Wondering if anyone has any other ideas for something small that everyone could bring.

Date night ideas might be a cute one. I would create a standardized form that your guests could fill out with their ideas so that you don't just get "Go to the Movies" a bunch, but instead might get "Go to the Movies at the movie theater on Main St."

I've also seen where the host puts a time on each invite and the guests are asked to bring a gift to coordinates with that time. For example, I received 9pm so I might bring a movie night basket, a nice blanket, new pillows, or set of wine glasses to the shower because those are all things you could be doing at 9pm. I have mixed feelings about this particular style, but it still gives the guest a lot of room to pick a gift.

ETA: LOVE the ornament idea, Tina!

A scrapbook page with advice would be cute/useful too.

I love the Christmas ornament idea, as well as the time one (though that would have to be really well coordinated).

Oooo! The seasonings one is a great idea! And bonus points to them if they are their own blends Smiley smile I love making my own blends!

I went to a bridal shower that wanted mismatched silverware. I thought it was pretty cool. The whole point was to find something at a garage sale of thrift store to help the couple build their collection. They didn't want anything to match.

I've been having difficulty with this too! I'm not big into cooking, so I don't want a bunch of recipes. Plus I have a ton of cook books I never use, lol. Someone suggested to me something about bringing a paint swatch or a color as a suggestion for a color or accent color for a room in my future home. I'd want to know why that color and what room it's for. I used to be an artist so I love that idea, but I feel like it's asking people to do too much, so I don't know if I'll go with it.

I went to one where they asked for a photo of you with the bride or groom and made a scrapbook out of it.. I thought it was cute. I have also seen: recipes, based on your birth month getting assigned a type of cooking utensil (I think they coordinated it like summer bdays would bring grill type stuff), didn't love the utensil thing too much because they probably got a lot of same stuff. Also have seen lingerie showers when it is mostly friends or a smaller shower.

Love the ornament idea, I am waiting till I am a BM in a wedding where the shower is in Nov/Dec and having the guests sign a small Christmas ball that the couple can then have for their tree.

I have better ideas about baby shower things! lol

I am doing a brooch bouquet. So my BMs asked every one to bring a brooch. It was amazing and I love now that my bouquet will be filled with brooches from all the amazing women in my life.

I love them too! Would it be crazy to do ornaments for a July shower though?

If I had a house, I'd love the paint chips and flowers one.

The ornaments just might be hard for people to find in July. If you wanted an ornament thing, I would say for you (guessing you are the host) buy a bunch of ball ornaments and have people write on them in sharpies. The idea for July isn't a problem IMO, but the accessibility for people buying them is.

Unless they are all people who shop online. But usually there are people who wouldn't want ot do that.

My friends are doing a 'Stock the Bar' shower where people can bring their favorite liquor for the couple.

One of my showers had the date ideas on popsicle sticks. At my second shower they asked everyone to bring a bottle of wine, then they had the guests write down on a tag an occasion to open and enjoy each bottle (first cooked meal as a married couple, first big purchase, after first baby, etc).

I've seen a stock the bar shower. If I was to have a shower in FH's hometown I'd want a recipe shower so I can learn to cook his favorite dishes from the women who make them they way he likes. One WW user had a pandora shower (her mom wanted her to have a shower, but she was older and had all the household stuff) so each shower guest purchased her a charm for the pandora bracelet and she wore it on her wedding day & loved that she had a memorable piece.

I love the ornament idea. My shower is in December. Maybe there is a chance my sister/MOH is reading this Smiley smile

Other than that, I've been asked to bring recipes, date ideas, etc.

One shower we were asked to bring a bottle of wine to stick their collection.
