Planning

A lot of the steps on this app seem unnecessary for someone on a budget, like do I really need an official wedding planner and venue? I think I can get married in a non venue barn. And a non venue reception hall.... right?

You’re right. You absolutely don’t need a wedding planner. It’s just a guide, do what’s best for your preferences and budget

If you're having an event there, it's a venue.

Interesting. Just didnt think of it as that, because it's just a city building...

A venue is just where your wedding is taking place. So a barn and reception hall are both examples of venues! But there's likely lot's of things you can skip if you're not interested! A wedding planner is one thing I'm skipping, but I did consider a day-of-coordinator instead. At the end of the day, it's your wedding and you can do what you want!

I'd say anywhere you host a wedding is a venue even if they don't market 100% of the time for weddings. Anywhere you host a birthday party or fundraiser or anything is technically the "venue" of the event. Sometimes venues like public parks or VFWs charge less because they don't cater specifically to weddings so they don't have things like bridal suites, dedicated ceremony spaces, etc.

    Venue just means place

You can get married and have your reception anywhere you want! I see others already clarified the term venue, so I'll skip over that. Smiley smile If you're keeping it small or very simple, there's no reason to hire a planner. If you're having a larger event, it would probably help reduce your stress but still, that's only if you want to pay for it and don't think you can do everything yourself.

I also just deleted the steps that didn't apply, which for me was most of them.

What Christina said. Just delete steps that don't apply to you.

I agree with the others saying just delete things that don’t apply to your wedding. I’ve deleted a lot of the checklist because we aren’t doing them, but I like that I can still see what is possible and decide if we want it or not.
