Hey Y’all,so I have a question.
Since we’re not having assigned seating,do we still have to number the tables?
TIA~

We're doing assigned tables for our seating chart:

Your venue or caterer may still want table numbers to make the flow of dinner easier.

We had free seating but decided to do table numbers so that guests could mingle and for example say, “ i’m at table 10” if they want to catch up with one another later or meet up and stuff like that. Less for organization and more for conversing purposes.

Alternatively, you could do themed tables if you don't want to number them. We're using books as part of our centerpieces, and each table is a different author. We're assigning people to tables by numbers, but they could also say they're at the Gaiman table, for example. I'd also highly recommend you at least consider seating everyone by table. You'll know exactly how many tables and chairs you'll need (you need more with open seating since people won't seat themselves optimally) and speaking as someone who went with a plus one to a wedding where I only knew the bride and groom, wedding party, and her family, it can be super awkward to find a seat by yourself and you have people eating by themselves.

I think it'd be nice to do table numbers

I have been to many weddings without table numbers, I don't think it's a big deal if you aren't assigning seats.

We thought the same thing! As of now, we think having some type of display with the table number would look elegant and also help the guests find their seats if they went up for food/drinks or to dance.

Any ideas what to display the table with?!

I’m guessing you’re having a buffet. If so you would need table numbers so you have a way of releasing tables to get food.

We’re not doing assigned seating because we’re doing a cocktail reception. I do not plan on numbering the tables. If you are doing a buffet, you may need to number them or somehow label them so the tables can be called up to get in line.

I'd say yes. Think about it its always a hassle when you get to a wedding and have no idea where or who to sit with. Do table number assignments not seats.
