Planning with wedding 2 years away

Katie M., on May 22, 2017 at 6:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I understand it is early to begin planning most of or wedding. What task do you think can be completed this early and what a tasks you wish your started considering before you actually did. Next month I wanted to find a venue and start looking for my dress. Is it too early? I got engaged back in December and the wedding wire timeline suggests an engagement photo shoot next June, would anyone recommend against getting them done this summer? Just looking for feedback and advice. I am a full time college student so I would like to plan as much as possible on my summer break this year and next.

Hi Katie, congrats on your engagement! Honestly, you are pretty early, yes, but given that you are aiming for a June wedding, I'd say you can definitely start working on that. Venues book up super fast. As for the dress, I am trying to wait for 9 months out to order (that's the last time to do so) but allows me to work on losing some weight before I order. 2 years is a lot of time to lose or gain weight, as well as have styles change!

I will be engaged for 22 months when all said and done and I booked everything pretty early on and got 2016 prices for things. I would figure out your budget and guest list and see how much you can afford and go from there. I think you can get engagement pictures done whenever you want to, if you wanna do them this summer go for it.

We have set a budget and guest list already as well as started to save Smiley smile I did see someone had mentioned getting cheaper prices for booking in advance. I am afraid that because we chose a popular time of year I book things slightly faster than most couples.

I got engaged just a couple weeks ago on 5/5/17. We are planning to get married in March or April 2019. We visited a bunch of venues last Saturday and will be most likely booking in June. The venues guaranteed 2017 pricing if we book early so that's a plus! I also wanted to plan ASAP since I just graduated college and have a couple weeks until I start my new job. We came up with a budget by researching vendors and figuring out what everything costs. Once the venue is booked I will probably back off for awhile. We may do engagement photos this fall.
