Planning Wedding Remotely - Where to Dress Shop?

Hmm...I didn't have to move too far like you. I went from LA to TX, neighboring states. I would say to purchase your bridal dress from NY it would also be an easier process. So you don't constantly have to fly back and forth for any alterations and fittings that may happen in the future.

But it's your choice in the end. Whatever makes it easier for you.

I would bring it on the plane with you because unless you fly down multiple times for your fittings you are going to need to do alterations where you live. I live in California but am originally from the Dallas area. I went dress shopping in Dallas and had my dress shipped to me when it came in and had my alterations done in California.

If you would be down there enough to do alterations I would buy it down there otherwise I would buy it where you live and fly with it.

Buying it in another city would require tons of work between shopping (which could take several trips) and fittings.

I bought my dress in NC, my mom picked it up and mailed it to me in CO. I had it altered in Co and then I will ship it back before the wedding and my moh will steam it.

If you're already planning on being in that city multiple times in the next year, buying it there seems so much easier than transporting it there.
