Hi fellow brides and brides-to-be! Our wedding isn't until next May but so far I have booked our venue for the ceremony and reception, our caterer, and our photographer just to get an idea of how much money I have to spend. I'm getting a lot of snarky comments from people saying that I'm planning too early. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overly sensitive or that they're right. I think I'm just anxious about the whole thing. I have a very strict budget and by planning this sixteen months early I feel like I have a better idea of how much I want to save every month. Any thoughts or comments?

My fiancé and I aren’t getting married until the November after this one and I’ve already started planning! Don’t let them get to you in my opinion if you start early you won’t have as much stress. I think it’s never to early to start planning in my opinion 🙄

It should never be too early to start planning!!! Especially if you have a strict budget, planning early will give you more time to save more money if you need to. Go for it and ignore the haters!

No you are not planning too early. It is actually a good idea to see how much you need to put aside for everything.

Don't listen to other people's opinions! This is your day and if you want to get your ducks in a row sooner do it! I have 1.5 years until I get married and I am already looking at wedding dresses so do what you want. Also alot of things book out far in advance so it's smart to plan.

Girl, don't listen to the haters, lol! I'm also getting married in May! Between taking care of one-year old, and going to school, I feel like 16 months is perfect amount of time to plan a wedding. It's always good to do things early instead of last minuet! The early bird gets the worm! Keep it up, and don't listen to the negative.

We got engaged Christmas Eve 2018. Around this time last year, we had the venue booked for May 2020 after checking out 3 and not being able to get the date we wanted ! You are absolutely NOT planning to early! You are being very smart, because a lot of people wait and then find out the venue they wanted is booked even waaayy out. Don’t listen to anyone. I even had my dress the week after I booked the venue and it’s been sitting in the closet for almost a year Smiley smile

Our wedding is also May of 2021. I have already booked, venue, church, photographer, dj, caterer, pastor and hair/makeup. Done my flowers for the whole bridal party, invite template is done, rsvps done, save the dates are being worked on. Favors are picked out, gifts are some bought some have to be ordered. Wedding day time line is rough draft, guest list is done. Girl you have a budget to stick to you do you and plan when and how you want. It's your wedding and I know you want it as perfect as it gets. Ignore those that are snarky.

I'm honestly in the same boat! We are getting married may 22, 2021! I've been told by my future in laws that I'm doing things to early, but all of my vendors are happy that we are booking so far in advance. The only vendor left is florist, and then we can start looking at all of the little details that will go into our day! Everyone has their own timeline/way of doing things. Do what is best for you and ignore the comments.

We've made all of our deposits (waiting a little longer to pay hair and makeup in full), but I'm trying to get everything paid off by october of this year (including the honeymoon). I've been working lots of overtime, but I know it will all be worth it.

Me and my fiancé aren't getting married until January and we are getting the same thing. Weird looks and the same question "why so long"? The answer is simple, we want to wait until we have our own place and settle in, plus we live in Utah at the moment and we are gonna move and get married in Washington, and I want to give my aunt time to make my wedding dress.

Hi, I got engaged September and as soon I said yes ! I started planning! And my wedding not until July 2021. I rather be safe than sorry and know how much I’m doing. I already booked my venue , Cater and honeymoon lol Already got my colors. So if planning in advance makes you happy all means do it because at the end of the day. It’s your special day and your pockets! 😊

Def not to early. My wedding is May 2021 and we booked ours in dec. I feel like it’s way to easy bc I haven’t been doing anything but with the venue we booked everything was included all I have to get is my dress and the photographer oh and the booze but everything was included.

Definitely not too early! I'm in the same boat as you, got engaged last March to be married in May 2021. I toured venues over the summer and booked ours the day they released 2021 dates last November, so we got our first choice of date! Just this month, I've booked my event designer, photographer, DJ, and ceremony musicians, and I'm in talks with planners now for month-of coordination. What I've noticed is that booking so far in advance gives you the pick of whoever you want, because no one is really booked yet, but you also have room to negotiate because it's so far ahead of the date! That being said, I've definitely run into a couple vendors who are already booked for my date 16 months from now! So it's certainly not too early to book if there's a vendor you really want, because if you wait, someone else might book them for your date!

Congratulations! I think planning ahead is terrific as long as the vendors are reputable and have shown some longevity. You certainly don’t want anyone to take a deposit then go out of business before the event. Most of all, you do you. Don’t worry about the opinions of others and you’ll be happy with your choices 💗

Mine is next October. I have the same budget constraint and would rather know how much I need than to wait and not have it. I want it to be as special as we both imagine it. Let the haters hate, its your day not theirs! 💙🌻
