Planning the ceremony for a micro-wedding

Gwendolyn, on January 17, 2020 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

Hi all!

Now that I'm about 6 months out I'm starting to think about how the ceremony should go. We are having a micro-wedding (16 guests) with no wedding party. However, I have two little cousins who would love to be part of the big day. I was debating having each of them carry a ring (they are slightly older and I trust them to not lose them) and hand them off to the officiant and then have them circle back and sit with their parents.

Would this be odd, with no other wedding party? Should I give the officiant the rings before hand and just have them blow bubbles / carry a sign?

Second question - I am looking at hiring a violinist to play during the ceremony. With no traditional wedding party, a relatively short aisle, and an exchange of vows that I do not see lasting longer than 20-30 minutes at most - would an hour be sufficient?

I love the idea of having the two cousins be a part of your wedding ceremony if it fits your vision! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the signs, but rings, bubbles, flowers, etc. would be amazing!

I also agree that an hour would be sufficient for your ceremony - this would allow your violinist to play 20-30 prior to the ceremony as guests arrive, as you and FH walk down the aisle, as well as play as y'all walk out as a married couple, and an additional song as the guests file out of the ceremony space Smiley smile

Lol, we’re almost wedding twins! We had 15 guests, no wedding party, a violinist for our ceremony!

    1) Cute idea for your cousins. 😊2) We had our violinist play 15 min prior to ceremony, the ceremony as needed (20 min), then after the ceremony as we took family photos and photos with guests. We hired her for an hour.

Hey there, Gwendolyn Smiley smile I think having your cousins sounds like a really cute idea! Do you think you’ll go ahead with it?

An hour sounds perfect for the violinist. As the PPs mentioned, he/she can play for guests as they’re waiting for it to begin, during the ceremony and for your exit.

Thank you so much! Yes, they are going to be our bubble girls (and carry our rings up) - and they are SO excited. My future nephew is also possibly going to carry a sign after them to signal the bride is coming (so he gets to also feel included).

We opted for an hour, which should be perfect. Now to figure out the music!
