Planning small reception in short time frame

Kelsey, on August 25, 2020 at 12:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hello all! My fiancé and I are just looking to have a small reception, as we are just going to have a tiny family only wedding. We are looking to get married in late October, and are wanting to plan the reception shortly after, which would only give me about 2 months to plan. Is this enough time? We are only planning on having around 50 guests at the reception. Any tips for my situation? Any and all suggestions are appreciated! 😊

It'll be tight, but you can do it.

As Melle says, look for all inclusive venues. Get a dress off the rack, and simplify the wedding. Figure out what is important to you, and let go of everything else.

If you are just looking for something small and simple (and you are not super picky), then this is totally doable! I would say the hardest thing is probably the dress, since most wedding dresses take 6+ mos. to arrive after being ordered. If you want to wear a traditional wedding dress, I would suggest trying to find some thing off the rack, or searching through the used wedding dress websites. You could also check ASOS, lulus, needle and thread, and some of the major department stores (like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, etc).

It definitely can be done. I would IMMEDIATELY start looking for a dress though as that may be the hardest part. Also look for a caterer soon after

It can be done, especially if you're not too picky.

It can definitely be done. I planned mine in 10 weeks for 50 people. Find an all inclusive venue if you can and order your dress online. Keep things simple and you will be ok. Good luck!

It can definitely be done. As other people have said, finding an inclusive venue makes things a lot easier. If that's not practical because of time or covid restrictions, still find a venue first. I'd be less concerned about the dress than the other posters. I got mine from BHLDN and it was delivered within a few days.
It was from a designer whose website said delivery from a boutique takes 12-14 weeks, so I'd definitely recommend looking at BHLDN, but even if you don't end up getting yours there, it makes sense to look around for different delivery times.

You can totally do it! We had to cancel our venue and find some new vendors. Just make lists and start contacting people. Set your priorities and just start checking them off. My wedding date is 10/24/20 and we almost have everything done! You can do this girl!!!!
