Planning sister's bridal shower in NJ...need venue suggestions!!

Private User, on December 30, 2014 at 12:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

My sister wanted a beach wedding but ended up picking a venue that's not on a beach. So for her shower we thought we could do the whole beach theme, but every restaurant we've looked at on the Jersey Shore is either too expensive or biker bar. Does anyone know of any places (in the North Jersey down to Seaside area) that are on the water and nice and affordable? Open to all types of venues - restaurants, Elks Club, Women's Club, etc. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Englewood Woman's Club (not on the water but very cute)

Le Jardin or the lighthouse, both in Edgewater

    The Charthouse in Weehawken

    The Palisadium in Cliffside Park

    Trinity in Keyport

Windows on the Water, in Seabright

    Branches, in Long Branch

    Waterside, in North Bergen

San Cubano in Weehawken (I think...)

    Liberty House in Jersey City

    The Sheraton in Jersey City

Have you looked into Asbury Park?

Definitely look into Asbury park. On the boardwalk there's mcloones which overlooks the ocean and is a great place to host a party, even a wedding. Langosta lounge is fun and hip, amazing original food. Cuban Petes is like being in Miami and their mojitos are magic. In the end I'd probably pick Stella marina because it has an upstairs space and the food is really impressive. I did my engagement photos in Asbury park (I'm sure you've picked up that I love asbury) and invited some of my very Italian, even restaurant owning, north jersey family down for dinner after we took photos and they were impressed with Stella marinas food. I'm sure one of those places could work with you to be in your budget and they are right on the boardwalk, overlooking the ocean. Plus they all have great food! ( Stella and langosta being my top picks!)

I went to a shower at Haven Restaurant in Edgewater last year. It was a lovely brunch! The restaurant is right on the water with huge glass ceiling to floor windows and you have a gorgeous view of NYC.

Salt Creek Grille in Rumson is beautiful and they have a good "brunch" menu with unlimited mimosas and champagne! I went to a shower there and it was great. It's right on the Navesink River.

Another nice place on the river is the Molly Pitcher Inn. The shower I went to there was also very nice. I liked the food at Salt Creek better, though.

Salt Creek Grill in Rumson (on a river, not a beach)

    McLoone's in Asbury Park

McLoone's Rum Runner in Sea Bright

McLoone's Pier House at Pier Village in Long Branch

Sirena Ristorante at Pier Village in Long Branch

Avenue & Le Club at Pier Village in Long Branch

FYI Branches in Long Branch isn't on the water. It's a few miles from the ocean.

Is it going to be super fancy? If it's more low key, you can try:

On the Deck in Atlantic Highlands (right on the bay, you can see the city)

Off the Hook in Atlantic Highlands (looks over the bay out onto the ocean)

True about branches. Usually 'on the water' translates to 'more money' unless its VERY casual. All the McLoones are great!
