Planning in 4 months?

Mrs. Krueger-Blackburn, on May 29, 2018 at 8:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
I'm planning.my wedding in 4 months. My fiance and I have never been traditional. We recently just said "we should get married" while eating breakfast. And we would like a fall wedding so that leaves us about 3-4 months to plan. Has anyone experienced planning a wedding that quickly? If so, how did it turn out? We also did indeed find a venue and are planning on having about 50 guests.

Hi Mollie!! Congrats! While this is somewhat nontraditional, it can be done! Working with a shorter timeline is definitely exciting and we'd love to help. We have an awesome guide to planning a wedding in 3 months that I think would be perfect for you. This guide also has tons of links and resources that will definitely be helpful throughout the process.

Congrats Mollie! My FH and I are so not traditional. My FH and I got engaged April 5th and will be getting married August 31st. We’ll have like 4-5 months (since we have the whole month of August.

We’re doing a small wedding (immediate and closest family) about 17 people at the courthouse, we rented a private room at our favorite restaurant, then an after party at our home (including friends). We called everyone that is invited personally to give the the date and rough timeline. We knew we wanted to have dinner at our favorite restaurant, we made sure they had the date open, took a tour and booked it on the spot. We created a wedding website that gives all of the details for the day before, day of, day after and text the link to everyone invited and also others that we’ll see during our wedding tour. Then we hired a photographer who will be with us most of the day. I bought my dress and this weekend my FH is going to look for his suit. Next week we are getting our wedding bands (so excited). I’m going to order my bouquet and my FHs boutonniere and our 1 tier cake in July. August 1st we will get our marriage license.

I’d say so far the planning has been going well. The worst part is having people ask why we’re getting married so fast. But we know that we want and are making that happen.

It it can be done. You really need to figure out what’s most important to you and your FH and just jump in. Select a budget, a date, book a venue, and get the invites out.

    Hope me this helps.

I think it can be done if you’re having a small non traditional wedding. We’re also having a small nontraditional wedding and we will be doing it in 7.5 months

We haven't announced yet! We're kinda looking over all the financials first. We found a lovely venue and we'll have about 50 people there. But I'm also kinda not looking forward to people questioning us. I'm attending law school in a year and so I honestly wouldn't have the time to plan and entire wedding after the fall :/ but I feel like people are going to assume I'm pregnant or something due to the timelime haha. I think what's most important is just being there for each other and celebrating a special time in our lives. It's just figuring out all the details - food, music, financials that's slowing us down.

Yeah, we had a couple people ask if we were pregnant. But we told them the truth, that we just want to get the wedding part over and done with. We want to start the next chapter in our lives. I feel a lot of people have also told us they wished they done it this way instead of a big wedding. Does the venue you found having catering included?

I planned my wedding officially in nine months but mostly planned it in 4 months. As I waited until 4-5 months to book everything. Also, my friends just planned a completely traditional wedding for 130 ppl in six months. My advice: make decisions and go with them.) A short wedding timeline does not leave a ton of room for indecision. But that system worked well for me b/c I also was in law school while planning and did not have a ton of time for planning. I really enjoyed planning a wedding on a short timeline b/c I didn't have a ton of time to worry, stress, or regret my choices.

That is a quick timeline, but doable! Much easier if you have a bigger budget. I'd just make sure you email TONS of vendors and venues, since I'm sure quite a few will be booked. Then you'll have more options.
