Planning ahead, or planning late??

Trinity, on January 11, 2020 at 8:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

When have you all started planning? Did or have you planned the little stuff first, or the total opposite?

I have been planning on the little things such as decorations, I am set on what I want. Later on I will be looking at dresses, and seeing what style I want. I already have been contacting vendors also, just to make sure we save enough to make it perfect!

Plan whatever you’re most excited about first- but don’t buy anything just yet! Then plan the rest around it, adjusting as you go. If your decorations that you’re excited about are spring or fall colors, you have a season! If they’re outdoorsy or modern-fancy, you have an idea for venue. Plan what you’re excited for and let everything else play off of that!

I handled the big stuff first that way we would have more choices when it came to picking vendors.

My wedding is November 7 this year. We got engaged March 2019, I got my dress in June, picked my venue for the wedding and reception which is all inclusive in august, we are doing a cake tasting this Friday coming up. I wanted all the big stuff done so all I could worry about was minor stuff. I say just plan as you please. Everyone plans differently 😊

I got engaged in dec of 2018, getting married July 2020. I knew I would just put the whole wedding off if I didn’t commit to something right away so in January, my fiancé and I started looking at potential venue options to help set our budget. Then by February 2019 we had the venue booked, which recommended caterers, so we had our caterer booked by March 2019. After that, we’ve just put aside time here and there to book everything else. Honestly 10/10 would recommend a long engagement for that reason. So far it’s been pretty low stress

I got engaged in May 2019 and started planning in June 2019, started with booking our venue. We got the big stuff out of the way first since you really need a date and venue picked before you can start shopping for other vendors since they need your wedding location and details. The venue also sets the environment and style of your wedding. Photography was next since we wanted to get our engagement photos done before summer ended. After that, hair&makeup, wedding dress, transportation, florist, and cake were next. Now all we have left is grooms/groomsmen attire and little details like bridal/groom accessories, card box, escort cards, etc.

I just got engaged in November and we’ve pretty much nailed down our venue and photographer and I’m going wedding dress shopping next month. We are getting married in November 2021. We waited until the end of the holidays to really start planning or else I would’ve been way too stressed, but we’re planning ahead because a lot of venues around our area book quickly. Also, we are getting offered pricing for this year rather than next, so it may work out being cheaper. But booking later can also save some money, so it’s really just about your style! My best friend planned and had her wedding 6 months after she was engaged and that was still beautiful.
