Planning a wedding with a 10k budget in orange county

jennifer, on July 3, 2014 at 12:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So I was wondering if anyone knew any nice places in orange county that I would be able to have a wedding with a 10k budget. I will be having 150 attend the wedding. Any suggestions on vendors or on diy stuff will be very helpful. I am open to anywhere in orange county.

I'm in so cal and I know it's really expensive out here. 10k is not a lot for 150 ppl. If you do it on an off day and a lunch or brunch reception, you can prob pull it off.

    Good luck!

Totally agree with Kat. My wedding is off-season, mid-week (New Year's Day, but still) and it's saving us a fortune. Our venue on a Saturday usually starts at $7k. Because of our timing, it's only costing us $2750. Seriously.

And you can DIY centerpieces with just candles and baby's breath. Have a (talented) friend make your cake. Don't buy new shoes. It's easier than you think. Smiley smile

Between mealtimes ceremony then cake champagne and appetizers and mingling. One cake, two floral arrangements, one walking violinist, a catered appetizer passed and tabled, everyone mingles standing for 45 minutes or so. Oh wait thats the 5,000 dollar wedding

It helps also if you can find a venue that comes with the tables and chairs.

Parks or other scenic areas may have really great pricing for venue space.

Cut the guest list, unless you have a backyard big enough to fit 150 people and you're going to serve them sandwiches with a cash bar. I'm exaggerating, but the point is that you need to be realistic. You can cut the guest list and have an elegant affair at a nice restaurant, or even find a community center and cater it from a BBQ place or an Italian deli (which will cost you a lot less).

Keep your eye on the goal-- getting married. That will run you about $300 for the officiant and marriage license. Now, start adding in what's important to you. Do you *have* to serve a five course meal, or would you be OK with Costco pizza? Are flowers important to you, or would you be happy with glitter on the tables instead of centerpieces? Nothing you do, aside from the officiant and marriage license, will make you any more married, so be prepared to let the historic home go in favor of a local park, and you can totally do this.
