Planned and Had a Wedding in 3 Months for Under $7,000

KelseyS2018, on May 14, 2018 at 6:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23
Well, we got engaged January 6th, 2018 and our wedding day was April 28th, 2018! It was a whirlwind of planning and booking in the first two months, but thankfully slowed down that last month. Smiley smile

It turned out so beautiful with the help and support of our families. I couldn’t have done it without them! I am also so grateful to Wedding Wire and it’s forums, it really helped with all the advice and support given on here!

Everything truly did turn out beautiful. We had some hiccups here and there, but at the end of the day I wouldn’t change that, it’s all apart of the beginning of our happily ever after, and every little detail makes that special.

So to all the future brides out there, if something crazy happens like you forget your bouquet before you walk down the aisle, or maybe you are sick on the day of (both happened to me). DON’T stress! Learn to roll with it and laugh it off. It’s up to you to make the best of your day! No matter what, you’ll be married to your best friend! And afterwards you can look back and laugh at the memories with the person you love most! ❤️

Will you be doing an itemized list of your budget? I think it might be helpful to know how you saved so much!

I have to second this. The best bams are the ones who break down their night and budget so that future users can get ab idea of what that price gets them.

Its certianly possible to have a lovely wedding in three months on a low budget but it would be great to hear specific detials!

I know I for sure have one written down here somewhere! I’ll see if I can find it. Just for right now I’ll try to give you a rough memory of it all, so bare with me on this 😂, there may be mistakes!

But for now I can say the things we saved most on was:

The D.J. was a family friend who actually had his own business, so he gave us a large discount, only charging us $200.

We also are members at our church so that was roughly $680.

Our reception was only $335 at the American Legion (military organization center that was made for veterans, but active duty and non military people can go to as well) because we are members. And he got married in his dress blues (he is a Marine), so it worked out nicely. It also includes a bar that we only had to pay about $10 an hour for, and we gave a tip at the end of the night as well.

For food we did City Barbeque which is roughly 11 dollars a person if you get the option that is the two meat choices and two sides one. got enough for 100 people. So it would have been $1,100. That one I’d need to find the list to check if we got anything extra for that, but I think it was around just that price.

My dress was on sale for $750 and my veil was $100.

I got most of the decorations from the dollar store, Walmart, and some from Etsy, so that I don’t have itemized off the top of my head.

The flowers were about $1,200 altogether.

    My cake was about $600

    My photographer was $1,495.

That rough estimate of things is totaled $6,460.

Some of this may be over-estimated Bc I can’t remember exact pricing on everything, but I’ll search for the list tonight to check them all. And I’m sure I’m forgetting a few things, because it was definitely higher than $6,460. But yes altogether for sure ended up being just under $7,000 Smiley smile.

I forgot to hit the reply button, but yeah until I find the actual written list this is the best I can do, it’s fairly close I think, and I overestimated the things I wasn’t for sure on just to be safe.

Mostly because of family friends or just member discounts Smiley smile. We aren’t overly picky either, so when it came to food we just chose something we knew both families liked a lot and it was our cheapest option, so we went with it

$10 an hour, but tips from guests were encouraged. As well as the tip we left at the end of the night. I was surprised and I’m not sure if every American Legion is like that or just ours. Ours was obviously not too expensive and was pretty laid back. Also the bartenders work as volunteers at ours, so they don’t get an average pay, they work off tips alone. At least that’s what we were told. So maybe that’s why?

Oh I see, I forgot to mention was also cash bar. Our guests knew and were fine with that though. I thought I added that on list my bad. I just meant the fee we had to pay on top.

It wasn’t open it was a cash bar. I forgot to mention in the list. The $10 am houf was just the fee to use. Our wedding was mostly really older people who don’t drink or underage people so we chose not to supply alcohol with an open bar

That makes a lot more sense. My wedding is coming in at about 9k, but we are having an open bar. Only 65 people though. It's nice that you got some great discounts, that also really makes a difference. Can't wait to see pictures!
