Plan b for Fall Wedding In ca

Nicole , on May 9, 2020 at 1:32 PM Posted in California Planning 1 9
Hello fellow brides! September 19, 2020 bride here. I wanted to share some updates on our wedding planning in case it might help other California brides getting married this fall. We are located about an hour north of Los Angeles county in the high desert. Yesterday our coordinator called to discuss a Plan B. She works full-time for Warner Brother’s studios and is in direct correspondence with CA government so they know when production can resume. There is a possibility that weddings made be pushed into phase 4 of reopening and some concessions we might have to make is that our guest count could be significantly reduced and guests may be required to wear masks. Also there is a question about international travel which could be suspended into next year. We have decided to make a final call the first week of June depending on further information she receives. We have contacted all our vendors to put a soft hold on 9/25/3021 should our hard lines be crossed; we are not willing to sacrifice our guest count and we do not want masked guests in photos. My fiancé also has family coming from Canada. We feel really lucky that our vendors have been so flexible and I feel so much relief with having a backup date planned. I hope this is helpful. May we all have the day we imagined. Xoxo

Phase 3 may be only a month or 2 away so lets hope that we will reach phase 4 before the next 6 months

    Hi Nicole,

Thanks for sharing this update! I hope some other CA couples see it and feel some relief. Smiley heart

I'm also glad that you know your non-negotiable items/details for your wedding. When the time comes, I hope that awareness will make it much easier to decide to postpone.

My fingers are crossed for you!

Today I made a 50ppl guestlist. Its a little over 50 because I forgot to count myself, FH & officiant. But as a backup at least I thought about what a small guestlist would look like.

This is a good idea, I think I’ll make a list just to see how it looks on paper and how I feel about it.

We thought about all of this and ultimately we don’t think things will be at a point where what we pictured our wedding to be, is possible for the very end of August. We have too many guests traveling and too many of them being higher risk individuals, due simply to age. We lost a family member to Covid-19 and other family members already reached out to let us know they weren’t comfortable planning on traveling. We agreed. I thought about picturing a smaller wedding if that’s what was required (originally planned to be a little under 100) but it is really hard when you think about the fact that the vendors and staff are included in those totals, so planning ‘under 50’ is really planning closer to 35. Just because a state ‘opens up’ more, it does not mean it’s safe for us snd our guests. I don’t want masks, I don’t want people to not dance, or enjoy themselves. Hopefully by next summer, things have settled into something closer to being able to celebrate with our families.

I'm so so sorry about your loss. The more days pass the more I agree with your response. We're about 80% sure we're going to postpone to have something more festive and closer to what we imagined next September.
