Place Cards?

Kirsten, on April 14, 2019 at 7:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

What is everyone doing for their place cards?

Our venue recommended doing little envelopes with each persons name on the outside, and on the inside will be a card with the table number written on it. That way if you have to change something at the last minute its easy and you can just change out the cards number thats in the envelope.

Although I do like this idea and the ease of it, I'm not 100% sold. Does anyone have any other ideas for place cards?

We did escort cards with stickers to indicate meal choice. They were folded and on the inside it had their table number.

We’re doing escort cards as well! They’ll be arranged on a table in the cocktail hour room

    Hi there Kirsten!

Did you want to do escort cards or place cards for your reception?

If you want to assign tables to guests and not the specific seat at the table, this would be escort cards! This WeddingWire article gives more information about the differences between the two - Escort Cards vs. Wedding Place Cards: What They Are & When to Use Them

Escort cards can give you a great opportunity to work your theme and style into the wedding reception even more! Below are some awesome examples I found on Pinterest:

(This one could be a great option for you as you could move people around, without having to reprint anything.)

I can see what the venue means about using envelopes, it would be easy to switch the number inside rather than replace the whole thing, however, if this doesn't fit your vision for the style of your reception, go with the method you prefer Smiley smile

How many guests are you inviting to the reception?

    Hi Cliodhna!

I didn't realize there was a difference between Escort Cards and Place Cards! This is very helpful, thank you so much!

Knowing this information, I did mean escort cards to assign a table, not a specific seat!

We are inviting 250 guests to our wedding!

I have seen a lot of cute ideas but so many involve a specific theme, which we don't really have. Or they involve using the favor, and our favor will be in a different spot.

I have the same issue! I don't want a boring regular place card bit it's looking like it might be that way.

    Hi Kirsten!

What about something like this I found on Pinterest?

You could stick all the escort cards to a mirror using wax seals (you can buy pre-made personalized ones on Etsy or Amazon) in alphabetical order! I think this looks cool and it's not very specific to a theme!

The venue may have a mirror you can rent, or you may have one yourself!
