Place Card Question

Kim, on January 17, 2017 at 1:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Where did you order your place cards from? I was hoping to order them from VistaPrint but it doesn't look like you can customize each one with names and entree choices. The one I selected I can enter a table number but the lowest quantity you can order in is 50 so unfortunately, that would not work. Are there any other cheap websites where you can have each card pre printed with name/table/entree choice?

For those who did order from VistaPrint, did you just hand write the names and table numbers on their place cards? I have no problem writing them out (I have good handwriting) - I just wasn't sure if that would look okay. I honestly can't remember what the place cards have looked like at other weddings I went to. Hence, why I would like to get these as cheap as possible!

I know I don't need to order these for a while - just trying to get it figured out now that I've been working on getting the invitations/RSVP cards ready.

Thank you!

My plan was to make them in Word or something and then send them to a print shop and have them printed and "scored" so they are easier to fold.

I plan on making them in word myself and print them on card stock

We made ours in Word (4 per page), printed on card stock, then borrowed a cutter and scorer (is that even the name for the tool to score?) from my MOH who had bought the tools to use for her wedding in 2015. Ours was nothing fancy but got the job done.

I got them from Wilton (purchased at Joann's I think - or Michaels, but definitely with a coupon). We plan to print them ourselves, but apparently they don't work well with Mac products, so we're going to do it at my parents' house

I was looking at Minted - they'll add the names to each one.

I got my rehearsal dinner place cards from Minted - they have increments of 5 starting at 5 (but they're obviously cheaper at higher quantities), and you can enter the guest names and table numbers directly on their site in the customization process or upload an existing list!

I'll be using minted because they do free table number and name printing. I have terrible handwriting, so I definitely need to get them printed lol.

Check out JoAnn Fabrics! I am using these and we will be printing clear address labels to stick on each (I don't have good enough script to hand write them all!) The laser cut look is very common so it's easy to tie together with other aspects of the wedding (We'll have laser cut cupcake wrappers too)

Michael's has some great options but I ordered mine from Oriental Trading. They actually fold into favor boxes so I'm filling them with candy - 2 birds one stone lol

Zazzle lets you buy one for each name, if you find a template you like.

I would recommend printing your own at home. You can purchase kits from craft stores. Or if you don't want the hassle, I recommend discussing your project with a local print shop - you can usually submit a document to the printer for production.

We got ours from vistaprint, they have an open space for the person's name and then at the bottom it says "table no __", then I got a gold marker and am writing everything out with that.

If you need menu options, you could also print on the back of the card the options with a check next to the correct one?
