Place card help!

Hollie S., on September 19, 2016 at 5:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

So here's my question... when filling out place cards do you put one name on each place card or do you put them by couple? Like Mr and Mrs smith. Or jack frost and guest. How did you fill out yours?

I have seen either however some caterers want the guest's meal choice delineated in some way on the card. Check with your caterer if you can do this with two guests on one card or not.

One name per card so we can let the kitchen know who is having which meal with a sticker or something

I don't think we need to put the meal on the card I give the list to them before hand by table.

I was thinking of doing couples on one card. I mean they will be seated together so why not.

For the ones who did one name one card besides food why did you do it that way?

Following because I was curious too, hope that's ok! Also, what if someone is bringing a plus one but you don't know the name yet?

I had enough to put one name per card, but you can do it either way. If you have children coming with parents you can even put The Smith Family but that could be confusing if you have more than one family with the same surname.

This should help.... Place cards and escort cards are two different things.

Escort cards: the cards that people put out to grab BEFORE you sit that tell you what table you are at (to escort you to your seat). Those you can put both members of the couples' name on unless you need it to alert the caterer to which meal people are having. If you are having table assigned seating and not assigned seats, you can use these to double as both escort and place cards.

PLACE cards are the ones that go at the seats to tell people which seat to sit in. If you are assigning seats, you need to have separate place cards in addition to the escort cards (or seating chart). These are always individual since two people can't sit in one seat.

I put couples together so I wouldnt have a million cards on one table. I also put little meal stickers in the corners. So if I had a couple I just put one sticker in each corner. Most of the time the server will ask who has what meal anyways so I didn't think too much into it.

I'm doing "Boarding Passes" as escort cards so there will be one for each person.

@ Kelsey Ann thank you much I never knew there was two different cards I guess I'm talking about escort cards then I don't care what seats they sit in just what table. I think I'm gonna go with a couple on each card since they will be sitting together at the same table.. you guys have all been awesome with your help..it's almost time for me and I feel like I'm starting to freak out a little over the Little things
