My sweet Hunter and I are getting married at a very beautiful barn. Originally we were going to have someone cater homemade country food.. that now seems a little out of budget.. so my fiancé suggested pizza.. would pizza be too tacky for this place?

Catering should take up about half your budget. Even at $11 PP which is a screaming good deal, that would only come out to $1342. How much are you expecting the pizzas to come in at? The difference can't be big enough to make or break this. You still have 5 months. Can you save an extra $100 per month to make the catering work?

I say go for it! But I would have a friend hide the boxes. Nobody is coming for the food they are coming to celebrate with you! Maybe make some big salads ahead of time. It's only tacky if the boxes are displayed. If they are arranged nicely on butcher paper or nice chargers people will barely notice its generic pizza.

Definitely do not do this! You have no idea how sanitary the food preparation was or if it was properly stored. If your guests get food poisoning, that's not only an awful way to remember your wedding but puts you at legal liability risk.

Not to mention, it's pretty lousy hosting to ask your guests to provide their own food. If you can't afford to feed them, cut your guest list.

We are paying $40 a person and I think that is VERY reasonable. $11/pp sounds like a steal if the food is good quality.

Actually my FH and I were going to provide the food, but my family insisted, that they wanted to makee food to save us money. LoL....I trust no ones going to get food posioning since we have several "pot luck" type events together and everyone enjoys the food and even if someone did I highly doubt my own family would press legal charges. Maybe were laid back like that, and thats the way we want Our wedding.

Personally, I find it a bit ridiculous to base what you want for YOUR wedding on how “tacky” your guests will find it. It’s yours and your fiancé’s day, literally no one else’s. If you love dollar menu items at McDonalds and want that to be your food, so be it. It’s YOUR wedding and YOUR memories that matter most.
