My sweet Hunter and I are getting married at a very beautiful barn. Originally we were going to have someone cater homemade country food.. that now seems a little out of budget.. so my fiancé suggested pizza.. would pizza be too tacky for this place?

I dont think anyone would mind if it was cooked onsite in a professional oven with gourmet toppings. Also with other side dishes. OP is suggesting Pizza hut.

Lol Yes we are having a wood fired pizza truck and there are gourmet toppings available. I would definitely never do pizza hut haha

Ok just have to point out that not everyone likes or can eat pizza. Vegan guests or dairy free guests would be out of luck ( I can't eat mozzarella cheese so that would not go so well for me). I would suggest adding pasta or something similar as well Smiley smile

This is the main problem with pizza. It has to be hot and stay relatively not. And when it's not, it will suggest that you don't care about your guests. As others said, the $11pp option sounds great. You could also see if a local restaurant would do dropp off catering. They bring pans of food and set up the buffet, but it's self serve. Depending on the place, that can save on cost.

At 3 slices per person, you'd need to order 46 pizzas. There's no way to keep them fresh if you're ordering from pizza hut. Honestly they'd probably be cold by the time they got to your venue. If you can't afford to spend $11pp, you can't afford to properly feed and host your guests.

I was going to suggest this same thing! We are doing this for our rehearsal dinner at my parents private property. I’m not sure on where you live but definetely look into a wood fired pizza truck!

Why not cut the guest list and stick with your original plan?

This is a fantastic deal! You should probably figure out a way to make this work, even if it means cutting your guest list. You are not going to find catering for cheaper than $11 pp.

Even pizza will likely end up costing you more because you will still need drinks, sides (like a salad at a minimum), plates, glasses, utensils, etc.

I would be really put off if I walked into this judo wedding barn/event space and was served pizza from a major chain. Get a gourmet pizza oven to come out or stick with the $11 service. How much did you pay for this space? You may want to look into changing venues.

I would go with the 11/pp deal. Thats a steal. You can cut your guest list OR if you're having a lot of kid guests, consider serving the children pizza (which can still be difficult if they're picky) and serving the adults the meal.

What time is the wedding? If it isn't during a meal time you could just do cake and punch. If it is early maybe a brunch buffet?!? If it is around 2ish maybe heavy appetizers?!?

The venue is beautiful. To be honest, if you can’t make $11 per person work, you have no business inviting that many people. Are you serving booze?

I think catered pizza is a great option, but I mostly just came here to say that our venues are basically twins lol

Pizza would be good I think from a finer pizza place. However I like your original plan. Homemade country food. We are actually doing country food but asking our guest to bring their favorite side dish or dessert and we are providing different types of chicken (wedding is in my family hollor). Most gurst dont mind and can consider it a wedding gift, especially if you are on a tight budget. Just a thought for you.

I hate pizza, I know I am not alone on that. So personally I think it's a horrible idea and would be very upset if that was what I was offered at a wedding. Weddings really are about your guests. I would consider cutting cost in other places to have better food. Also, that is a beautiful barn, it would really be very tacky in my opinion. Sorry.

That's a beautiful venue but I agree with other PP that the $11 option would be much better than pizza. I love pizza personally but I absolutely detest Pizza Hut. You will also need to take into consideration any guests with gluten or other allergies. Pizza from an on sight caterer would be fine as long as you have sufficient sides and other options for all but then it wouldn't be cost effective.

LOL. Its an appalachian term used primarily in Kentucky for a open valley that has been cleared of trees and sits between two mountains or hills. When cleared of trees is beautiful. Ours goes way down into a valley and is surrounded by hills and SKY!!
