Pityriasis rosea and e-pictures

Merfy Lou, on September 9, 2011 at 12:13 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 9

My FH and I want to do engagement pictures while the leaves are still turning yellow (and in Alaska, if we don't do that in the next 5-6 days we're SOL).

I was planning on wearing a black dress that would show most of my chest - but not much cleavage, but I have an outbreak of Pityriasis rosea. It could be up to 8 more weeks until it's completely cleared up and we'll have snow then.

Do you ladies think it's too noticeable and perhaps I should just wait? It goes all the way up to my chin, so just changing outfits isn't really an option. And I know my photographer can do some touch-up work, but I wouldn't want him to have to do every image I want.

Sorry the images are a little risque, but I did crop out most of the cleavage...

I have fair/sensitive skin and know how difficult it can be to have any type of flair up...have you thought about trying a gentle concealer or airbrush make up on the area so the photographer won't have to do much touch up? If the photo session is only a few hours it may not irritate it too much....I have done similar...good luck! I bet the yellow leaves will look beautiful with your black dress!

Well, I think most photographers can edit things like that out (heck, they edit pimples and braces off kids these days!). But another option is to wear a higher-cut neckline. I'm sure it will turn out fine. Also, it isn't as noticeable in the second picture.

Awww, I really feel for you. Yes we can edit that for you. Depending on the photographer, there could be an extra charge for editing of that type, so ask your photographer about it. Some photographers would consider that standard editing, and others would consider it extensive or additional editing. If you can get airbrushed makeup for it (a great way to use your makeup trial...for your e-pics!) it would certainly make a difference.

I'm not a MUA, but occasionally I do have to help with makeup for a client, so I've studied up. If not, get a concealer that has green, red, purple and orange (Sephora has one). Green concealer usually is helpful for red discolorations. Dab it on & then fan it outward with a small brush.

Hopefully one of the MUA's will jump on this & give you some advice, too. Smiley smile

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I was wondering if maybe I see it worse than it is because it bothers me so much.

No Sephora here - any suggestions on brands I can get in a box store? Wal-mart/Fred Meyer are my choices

And not planning on a MUA due to budget. Planning to have my MOH and my mom work their magic, but neither of them live near me

I've used this stuff before http://sallyhansen.com/products/skin-body/leg-care/airbrush-legs on my pale legs when going out in a skirt. Perhaps the most fair color would cover up the red without making your chest and neck a different color? Some of the reviews of the product say that a glitter has been added recently, so it may not work if it makes you sparkle.

Here, I found what I was talking about at Ulta. Guess Sephora doesn't carry the one I have anymore. You can order this online and it's fairly inexpensive.

    Hope this helps. Smiley smile

Yes, definitely use a green primer, as it takes out the red! You put it on first, then the foundation. Using a brush instead of your fingers helps too. I hope it doesn't irritate your skin even more... Good luck!

I had that before... oh I feel so bad for you. When it's hot and you start to sweat it itches like hell! Put makeup on it if that is possible. Even when it goes away you will have toe spots for about a month. I don't know what causes it but it sucks. You can try putting yeast infection cream on it. It does help them go away faster. I hope this helps.

Yay!! Good news is that it looks SO MUCH BETTER! It'll be hardly noticeable for Sunday's e-pics session
