Pimple Problem

mocay, on May 11, 2009 at 10:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I have never really had a big problem with acne before, even through high school and college. But I when I do get pimples, they are the deep painful ones that seem to last for like two weeks. My wedding is in 9 days and I have a huge pimple on my chin. Any advise of how to quickly zap this thing and quick?

Supposedly toothpaste helps dries them out. I've never used it because I tend to get smaller pimples, but I've heard this from several different sources.

Sounds like nodular acne.I feel your pain! This will sound insane but after years of dermatologists it's the ONLY thing that's ever worked for me. Put a pinch of flax seeds(from your local health food store or organic aisle at the supermarket)into a small bowl. Add just enough hot water to moisten them. Let soak for about 5 minutes. They will get all gooey. Then swipe your finger into them and smear it on the bump. This is very messy, the seeds tend to drip and fall off easily. You can put a bandaid over the mess to hold them on or leave them and they will dry on your face. This is NOT attractive! I like to sleep with it on overnight but you can just put it on as long as possible while watching tv or whatever. It works best if you do it at the first sign of a bump but I've had it work even on very old stubborn bumps that never seem to go away. I did not think this would work but figured it couldn't hurt to try. It's miraculous for me! I hope it works for you. it does feel silly though!

OH FYI this doesn't work on regular acne. Only nodular acne and cysts. I have no idea why whatsoever! My grandmother is always passing these old natural remedies onto me and I've learned to give them a chance.

But it really does sound like yours is nodular. They are very deep, large, and painful. They take a LONG time to go away and they almost never come to a head at all. Nodules do not respond to normal acne treatments and dermatologists will tell you that they have to be drained or injected to get rid of them. This will take a few days to FULLY get rid of it but for me, I see a good amount of shrinking after one night which is mountains above any other treatment I've tried, even prescription. SO strange!

You might not be able to make it go away (hopefully the flax mask works), but obviously you know you can't pick at it! That is the absolute worst you could do because then make up can't really do its job to cover it. Best to just keep it clean, and don't bother it, so it will be smooth for cover up on your wedding day!

Or...how about checking with your doctor or dermatologist too? Couldn't hurt! Oh...or a really, really good esthetician who can use one of those electro thingys.

Just remember that either way, it is way more noticable to YOU than it is to other people, so don't stress over it too much!

I have ha dacne for 3 years, since I had my son. I have tried everything . I asked my PC about Retinol A micro it works great and in only a few days it disolves the zit inside out. Or call a dermatologist I just got a great new acne cream called BenzaClin Im telling you it is my life saver so far. I use it everyday and it helps kill the bacteria that cause the pimple. No scar no bump no redness nothing and it works really fast. Good Luck

If you don't have a relationship established with a dermatologist, call your regular doctor, and see if they'll prescribe you something. My wife goes to the dermatologist annually and she prescribed something to her, want to say it is Benzocaine 2% or something like that. Not that it helps, but it has a white tube, about 4" long and a yellow screw on top. In the rare times that I do get a pimple, I put this stuff on and the swelling is gone overnight, and by two days it is almost gone.

TO help bring the swelling down, take a cotton ball and run it under very warm water, not hot though, squeeze all the acess water out, pour some salt on it and apply to the pimple with pressure, It'll help take the swelling down and some of the redness (after your skin cools off, the spot will be a little more red from the heat and pressure) DONT pick at it, and call a derm right away and ask what you can do, I'll also google and post.

Here are 2 other natural remedies that might help if the Flax doesn't:

    1) Pure Tea Tree oil (clean skin and apply a drop on the offending area~awesome anti bacterial product). Some folks may need it diluted, but we use it straight w/no probs.

    2) French Green Clay (also may be used as a 'spot' treatment if not on the entire face). This is the brand we like: Rainbow Research, French Green Clay

    http://www.iherb.com/Rainbow-Research-French-Green-Clay-Facial-Treatment-Mask-8-oz-225-g/11191?at=0

..and 1 OTC that works on many inflammations:

    1) Clearasil Ultra (rapid action treatment cream) in their 'Vanishing' formula

..and 1 rx formula from your pharmacy/doctor:

    1) Clindamycin 1% gel

We've used all 4 remedies for cysts/nodules & reg pimples w/ 3 teens and an adult. Each one has its benefit and varied success rate, depending on the individual treated.

Also: drink lots of water, avoid white sugar & flour products, eat healthy, keep face clean, avoid face make-up.

    Good luck!

I agree with the toothpaste suggestion. I also use a slight dab of Tea Tree Oil.

Wow, there are so many tricks that people have! I will have to try the flax stuff - I recently started getting the deep ones that take a few weeks to go away (my skin was always reasonably cooperative before). I've found that spot treating with a sulfur mask helps a lot, shrinks the really deep pimples so that you almost can't see them, and allows for concealer to be applied if necessary. I recommend a 10% mask, as the lower concentrations of sulfur are better for general maintenance. I recommend DDF mask - it's a bit pricey ($40) but really does work quite well, and can be ordered online, or overnight in a pinch. Good luck!!

I use Sea Breeze astringent and it works great! I would put it on when you wake up and before bed and you should be good to go in like 3 days. You can get it at practically any store.

This happens to be too, when I get my period. Anyway, I was reading a bridal magazine and they said the best spot treatment product was Origins Spot Remover, so I tried it and so far so good.

I want to thank everyone for their ideas and suggestions! I have the pimple almost beat! I tried the toothpaste, the clearasil, the flax seed, and the rubbing alcohol. And the one that worked the best and quickest... so that you ladies know for the future is rubbing alcohol. It really stings, but it works.

For any future brides reading this...I have had toothpaste work, however if it's really close to your wedding...don't pop it! From a makeup artists point of view...we can help you cover something a lot easier if it hasn't been opened, but either way you could always photoshop it out easily. Also...avoid facials too close to your wedding! That tends to bring all the impurities out right before the wedding! Hope that helps!

I know there is a metagenics ultrainflamx supplement that is good for overall health. If you can find some in a store then you might have just enough days to clear up your face. I hope you can get that cleared up. Good luck on your beautiful day!

Once in a while, I get those really deep pimples- cystic acne. Usually, my Spironolactone keeps things under control, but I bought dermalmd serum when I had a bad one pop up. It worked fantastically! It wasn't gone overnight, but it dry it up, reduce the redness & swelling overnight, and it got rid of it waaaay sooner than usual. I've tried every over-the-counter spot treatment out there including one from Proactive & some various home remedies, and dermalmd serum by far works the best. It also has a texture like lotion which feels great & doesn't dry out your skin like the other ones do.
