Picture Thank You Cards.. Pro pics not in yet.

DMN, on May 26, 2015 at 11:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

We got married on May 16th, and just got back from the Honeymoon yesterday. Pro pictures will not be in until next week at the very earliest, if not longer. Would you wait and hope the pro pics came in next week, or find a non-pro picture and send this week?? We also have great silly pictures from our photobooth, but I'm not sure if that would be "Thank you card appropriate".

Or scrap the entire idea and buy cheap invites and vodka with the money you saved? lol

We though about getting thank you cards with our photo...and then we said "screw it, we'll just get cheaper thank you notes somewhere else." Most people don't keep thank you cards, so the cheaper route made more sense to us.

I would get the thank you cards out as soon as possible. Less you have to worry about. Smiley smile

My family got a thank you card 11 months after the gift was sent. My Mother saw the bride 4+ months after the gift was sent and she appologized for not getting the thank yous done - she said they were waiting for the photographer's photos.

We sent-out thank you cards that matched our invitations and waited until the Xmas after the wedding, to send a wedding photo Xmas card.

I used the generic Hobby Lobby cards, 50 of them for $5 on sale. Done. At least you are writing the notes, some brides don't do that.

I waited for pro pics and just ordered my thank you cards a few days ago. I know it's a little late but I love them!

I'm all about the picture thank you cards! Talk to your photographer, and see if they'll give you one early for it!

We used our engagement pictures for the thank you cards. Still professional pictures and it's another chance for those pictures to be seen because after the wedding it's almost going to be all wedding pictures.

I just talked to H about this. We waited 6 months for a generic photo thank you card. Everyone got the same message inside. It was so rude IMO. So we just opted for cheaper thank you cards and hand wrote a personal thank you in them.

A happy medium would be wait for a pro picture, get them printed and then leave the inside blank? (unless you were planning on that already)

also, you could just see what photos you get and if you don't like any go to michaels and get some cheap ones.

We got 6 teaser photos from our photographer a few days after the wedding. We made them into thank yous using VistaPrint.com. They turned out to be 50 cents each. There's about a 3"x6" space for us to write in. Having had 450 guests at our wedding, it's going to be a while before everyone gets their thank you.

I waited and got my thank you cards from shutterfly. They were folded, had one picture on the outside and one on the inside then one side was left open for me to write in. Personally, as a guest I wouldn't mind waiting for the thank you that had a picture on it.

We waited until we got our pictures because I wanted thank you cards with our pictures. I think I sent mine out 3 months after my wedding. Whoops lol

We will wait for pics and include one in each card. The majority of our guest list is family.. I think only 10 (ish) out of 150 are friends.

But we also leave that very next morning for a 2 week honeymoon. So that should give our photographer plenty of time to get us some good photos. Smiley smile

We are working on our thank you's this weekend. We want to get them in the mail tomorrow. We opted to skip the photo cards so we can get them in the mail sooner. A while ago I ordered custom thank you cards that I designed to coordinate with our invites I designed. But we got a few preview photos the day after the wedding, check with your photographer to see if they can send you one if you really want to do the photocards.

I just don't quite get the photo thank you cards. They're only going to go in the trash, right? Seems like a lot of money and effort from something that will be thrown out.

Nicola, it really depends on your audience. Most of my wedding guests were family, they all kept my thank you cards. Me personally, I love keeping cards in general but would be more apt to keep one that has a photo on it instead of a plain one.

I would get in touch with your photographer and ask if they could send you a couple of their favorites so you can use it on your thank you cards.

Our timeline for photos was 3 months so we bought TY's that matched our theme/colors - cream with fold foil lettering and sent those. We used our wedding photo for Christmas cards instead.
