Picking a Venue

Taryn, on April 16, 2020 at 7:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

So i am currently having a hard time picking a place to have my wedding my side of the family lives on one side of the country and his side of the family is on the other. I have no idea if there is a certain way to pick where to have it but both him and i are in the military so no place is our permanent home at the moment so i am just a little lost. Any advice will help greatly!

Pick a place y’all want to have it, at the end of the day it’s what easier and best for y’all because It’s a moment that will be a life time of memories for the two of y’all. Picking some where y’all are both at might be easier because when looking at venues and getting everything together it has to be where you can see what is going on instead of relying on other. Planning a wedding is stressful enough people will travel just give them a heads up but don’t let others convince you to do it where you don’t want remember who will be covering the bills!

Pick somewhere that will be convenient for you during the planning process. That may be somewhere close to you, or somewhere close to a member of your families/friend group/planner that is helping you. It sounds like people will have to travel regardless, so I would not stress about picking somewhere based on what is convenient for everyone else. Wedding planning takes a lot of work, so make it easy on yourself!

My fiancé is from Colorado, we live in Chicago (where my family is) and friends are scattered all across the country. We looked into costs vs what we wanted in both Chicago and Denver but couldn’t justify the costs. Researched destination wedding locations in the US, found an adorable venue in New Orleans. Already had a vacation planned for Nola, so made an appointment to check out the venue to see if we loved it as much in person... we did! (Side note, they have been amazing with covid postponing). This way everyone has to travel, no hard feelings anywhere because it’s easier for one side of the family vs the other or worry about one family showing up and the other side not, etc.
