Hi all! New here but I have a question. During the reception I want the photos the photographer is taking to be on a display for the guests.. but also to have added in random ones from the past.. that way my FH and I can enjoy the people who have past away in our lives in happy moments instead of a picture.. Which vendor would I be having to talk to about that? Photographer? Venue? TIA I feel terrible asking stupid questions..

Both. Most photographers aren't going to have edited photos by the reception. We talked to one photographer who offered something like this in their highest package. One of them took photos of the spotlight dances while the other edited a preview slideshow to show during the reception. You will also need to make sure that your venue has a place to display the slideshow.

Are you wanting the photos your photographer is taking during the wedding displayed while she takes the photos? Or do you want photos the photographer has taken in the past to be displayed.

I've seen this done once, but I don't think it's a common photography offering! I'd look for photographers who offer same-day edits and from there you can talk to them about the best way to display them!

I've only been to one wedding where edits from the ceremony were visible on a laptop in time for the reception, and that was done by the photographer. Good photo edits generally take a bit of time, so its not common to have edited photos available right away. Your photographer may be able to process some images with quick presets they have, but if they are busy shooting the whole time they won't have time to do this. It's possible that a second shooter/photo assistant could do this but it would take them away from photographing your event.

If you want stuff on a laptop or tablet, the photographer could potentially handle that. Because of the time involved and distraction from actually shooting, I wouldn't be surprised if many photographers declined to accommodate this service/request. Some may not even have a device to use on site and may reserve all their editing for a desktop system at their home/office/studio. You'd probably need to send whatever additional photos you wanted included before the event.

If you are looking to have these projected on a screen or something, then you'd likely need to loop in your venue or entertainment services/DJ to provide this service, and they would need to coordinate with your photographer. Don't be surprised if this comes at an extra fee.
