Photos for Wedding Website

Alyssa, on April 3, 2020 at 3:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi!

I've created a wedding website and I'm trying to choose photos to put on the "Photos" page. We had a beautiful engagement session both formal and casual looks and our photographer took gorgeous photos of our props (a date sign we made, the engagement ring, the beautiful gardens we were in). I want to incorporate these as well and many of the photos of us are perfect. Our save the dates and website were the main reason for the engagement session so I want to use as many as I can. I have narrowed it down to 44 pictures, but can probably cut out a few more. I don't want to go overboard, but... how many photos are too many photos???

Also, are there any tips for "theme"? Like should you keep all of the black and white ones together? All of the ones of props together? Individual portraits of either of us together? Or just mix them all up?

I feel like the more photos you have, the less likely it is that people will look through all of them. Unfortunately, people (besides parents and best friends maybe) just aren't going to be as excited about your engagement photos as you are. I would include as many as you feel like, and if people want to look, great! If not, no one is forcing them.

I agree i think 44 is a bit much. maybe start by cutting that in half first. OR maybe try making it into a collage so that it's not something people have to scroll through but if more fit on a page then it's not as bad

We put about 20 of them on our website. And used one on our save the date. We had 3 separate shoots. Some of our friends used 4-5 photos on their save the dates

One of our friends did a Growing Together Page( pre-engagement pictures) and separate page for their engagement pictures.

Let me say that I used to work for a wedding photographer doing editing, post production and blogging. For the blogs we would narrow it down to 20-30 images. I would suggest somewhere within that range because let’s face it: most people have short attention spans and aside from the couple or close family members, they don’t necessarily want to see every single photo or detail. I would narrow it down by sorting out duplicate variations of a similar pose or shot.

Thank you for the advice everyone! I completely agree! I'll definitely narrow it down a lot.

Thanks ! Just figured it would still let you show them all off but not all in one place !
