Photography- Lily & Lime??

Amanda, on August 25, 2016 at 9:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

Has anyone every heard of or used this site for photography? Or does anyone know anyone who has? We are trying to find a cost effective, but still nice photographer, and this site has some awesome deals!! And I actually like some of the photographers, but I've never heard of it, and I can't really seem to find any reviews anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

Thanks!!

I'm so sorry about the post above, that was my mistake! I was trying to look for information in your profile to help me find your vendor for you. I feel silly now. What I had said was:

Hi Amanda, without knowing the location or web address I'm struggling to do a good search for you. Call it shameless self promotion but WW features lots of vendor reviews, maybe they are featured under our Vendors tab? Certainly you should find lots of reviewed photographers in your area even if that particular one is not listed.

And we'd love you to set a profile image so we can get to recognize you around the forums!

I can't seem to find any reviews for them either. Even on WW. I'd be interested to hear about anyone's experience with them

I too am looking for reviews on them. The knot has a page for them under vendors but no reviews yet. Maybe they are a really new company?

This is weird. I am also looking for info on these people.... They literally have no reviews online anywhere. I'm sort of sketched out by these guys...

My fiance and I are very interested in them, too. We're grad students on a budget, and they seem like a nice option--but where are the reviews? And why does the cheapest package--Simply Photo--make you wait 1 year to receive your digital negatives? That seems strange...

They're a new company that just launched in June. They do everything online (picking your photographer, booking, planning the day) and therefore can make it cheaper by not having to budget coordinators and people to chat through everything on the phone or in person. They're probably a good option for someone on a tight budget that doesn't particularly mind not meeting your photographer in person until the wedding day.

I also just got an email from them and started looking for reviews. Can't find any anywhere. They have comments disabled on their vimeo page too... So weird. The prices sound great, but hesitant to book something that has no reviews online.

I ended up looking into them but my wedding was outside their service area which makes me kinda annoyed that I had to create an account first in order to find that out >:/

I looked into them just now and was bummed to see that my location is out of their service area too. At first, I couldn't see availabilities for my actual wedding date so I pushed it earlier just to see the kinds of photographers they offered. Anyway, made an account and all that to get nowhere. Cool.

I booked them for my October 2017 wedding. i made the initial deposit when i booked, paid a second installment one month later and wont owe the existing balance until a week before my wedding. I looked at the portfolio of the photographer i booked and liked her work. I ended up finding another website with some more of her work. I was hesitant at first, as well. But i was directly emailing a contact person and she has been really wonderful so far.

I similarly looked for reviews to no avail, ultimately decided to take the plunge and book them for my wedding in May so I will let you all know how it turns out (and I will post a review somewhere!).

The website and customer service experience would be a lot of effort for a scam, and the game would be up pretty quickly in my case if no one came to photograph my wedding next month. It looks like only color correction for photos in included in the basic package and any further retouching costs $20 per photo; I imagine that's a huge part of how they keep the price down. Works for me, I just want my day captured and don't need every photo to look professionally done.

    *UPDATE*

Go ahead a use them! Make sure you read the contract because they have some nasty cancellation provisions, and make sure you understand the terms of your selected package, but I'm very happy and would recommend them. Here was my experience:

I booked the cheapest package and got a $200 discount code from them on top of that. I actually received the discount code like the day after booking and contacted them to see if they would be willing to apply it retroactively. They did. They also upgraded me from the "simply photo: 6 hours" to the "simply photo: 8 hours" package for free without telling me--or rather than told me they added two hours for free but not that the package was upgraded. The two hours isn't must of a difference, but there is one really big difference between those two packages which is when your photos are released to you for download.

They don't explain anywhere on the site what they mean by "Digital Negatives (Released after 1 Year)". I assumed that just meant that you would get photos when the editing team was done with them and that they didn't guarantee you getting them in less than a year. Nope. Actually what happens is the editing team finishes and the photos are watermarked and put into an online gallery where you can view them and buy the negatives for immediate viewing ($500) or photoproducts, prints, books, tshirts, etc.. You later get a link to the (un-watermarked) photos ("digital negatives") to download. The more expensive packages have digital negatives released immediately. Needless to say I would have been bummed to wait a year to be able to download the photos so I'm really happy they upgraded me.

The process was easy, they have a designated customer service person to answer all of your questions and help you plan out a schedule for photos, but that person doesn't actually interact with the photographer so anything you tell them that doesn't go into the written schedule won't be communicated. No biggie.

The photographer I selected when I signed up had failed to update his schedule with them and it turned out was not available, but they let me know right away and held the date for the other three photographers who were available. (There were only four to choose from most likely because I was looking for someone like 6 weeks before the wedding.) The photographer I ended up with was fabulous. She called about a week before the wedding to go over the schedule and make sure she understood all the shots I wanted to get and anything she needed to be aware of. She gave me her contact information and arrived on time the day of. At the end of the night she told me that she transmits all her photos to Lily & Lime the next day and from there it's up to their team.

I got a sneak peek with a few photos two weeks after the wedding, access to the online gallery four weeks after the wedding, and I should be able to download the photos in a week (6 weeks after the wedding). If I have any issue with the download I'll come back and update. The photos are gorgeous, there are about 700 of them for 7 hours. That includes shots of people blinking and yawning so I assume they're giving me everything. I don't feel like I need to have any of them edited right now but I'll look at them more closely after download to see if it might be worth it for one or two.

We booked lily and lime for our wedding, and added the engagement shoot (which we just had).

basically, lily and lime is a service that hires photographers. your photographer is literally given a date and time to show up and take pictures, and send them back to l&l. l&l is then responsible for the editing and passing to you.

we got pretty lucky. i looked up our photographer online, and she usually charges almost double for her packages booked outside l&l. she said she signed up because she just moved to the area, and wanted to get to know people and gain clientele.

we had no problems. any time we had a question or concern, we emailed lily and lime and received a prompt response. we haven't seen the photos yet (outside of what the photographer showed us as we were going along), but we loved who we chose and aren't concerned at all.
