Photographer payment

Is it standard for a photographer to ask for full payment before the wedding? How are you all paying yours? We don't know of we should pay in full before receiving our photos!

We paid 25% when we signed our contract, then we did another 25% a few months later. We have two more payments to do, the last of which will be due 30 days before the event.

We had to put down 40% for the deposit and the rest is due 2 days prior to the wedding. It's completely normal. They don't want to chance showing up and working all day just to find out that you can't/won't pay later on. Most will say in their contract that if payment isn't complete by whatever day it violates your contract and they won't show to your wedding.

Mine asked for a deposit and yes, full payment before the wedding day. He's a friend of mine as well, and he told me horror stories of not getting paid until months after the wedding. I totally understand. I have no problem with it.

50% retainer and then the final payment 10 days before the big day. Hope this helps!

We made a deposit when we booked with them, then we owed 1/3 of the remainder at 6months, 1/3 at 3months, and then the final balance 2 wks before the event.

We also require a $500 retainer regardless of what package you select and then full payment due 4 weeks before date.

We paid a $200 deposit to hold the date right off the bat. Then, full payment was required at least one month before the wedding.

We are actually really surprised at the amount of photographers that require 50% down! That's a lot to hold as a retainer!

Standard. You'd be amazed how many of my colleagues got stuck with albums that couples never picked up and never paid for.

I paid one of my photographers in installments...I do think the full payment should be made before the day
