Photographer consultation

Future Mrs. Danger, on October 13, 2019 at 9:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hello all,
We are having our pre-wedding consultation tomorrow evening and I am wondering what I need to ask or tell our photographer. Whats important?
We are all paid up and the wedding is in 3 weeks, so we are not interviewing photographers...just fyi.
Someone please give me some pointers...I have no clue.

We are doing the same about a month out from our wedding. It's a destination wedding and we just happen to be in Vegas a month out. We are scoping out the wedding/reception venue. Will most likely provide her with a list of who all we want pictures of (family, bride, wedding party, etc). Give her some of my inspiration photos and shots that I would like to have. I don't want to give too many, but enough to give her direction. Most likely will start talking about a timeline for the day. Not sure what else but would like to hear what everyone else asked.

Agree with pp. Daughter's photographer helped with/gave input to the timeline (she already had input at that point from her venue coordinator and DJ). They talked through when he and his second shooter would come to our house and where the guys would be getting ready. Although he had toured the venue with us months prior, they talked through some of the locations daughter really wanted for different things (e.g., her hanging dress pics, etc.), she shared sample pictures with him from her venue's gallery, she had a list of the group shots that were specific to her wedding/guests (so, not "I want pictures with the BMs," because those are standard, but the family groupings -- half the 100 guests were family, so we wanted lots of photos of specific groupings), she gave him a heads up about the possible drama points (e.g., between the G's divorced parents, etc.). One of his suggestions was that she have a "photo wrangler," someone besides her or me, who would have the list of specific groupings and help make sure the right people were in the right photos. Daughter asked my two sisters to be her wranglers and it worked really well! Good luck!

Pick shots you absolutely want to have. It's hard to remember the day of. Also if you have doubts about posing ask for some pointers on how to do it better and still look natural. All photographers I ever worked with gave me great tips. I'd also discuss accessories if any.

    Hey there!

I think it would be a great idea to go through your timeline for the day, how and where photographs fit in and your must have shots list!
