photographer at rehersal dinner?

Amanda, on July 25, 2011 at 4:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi everyone! first off thanks for all the great advice so far! Secondly- has anyone had a photographer at their rehersal dinner? My photographer includes the rehersal as part of the wedding cost- what type of pictures does the photographer take at the rehersal- and is it the rehersal and the dinner? I would assume the photographer would be eating dinner while we are eating as well. Please let me know what you think of this? Thanks!

Hi Amanda! Actually, I have never heard of a photographer attending the rehearsal or the dinner. I can see why they would be at the rehearsal, they know the best places to get photos and who is in the wedding party. My guess is that you would have to feed him/her as well but this is something completely new to me. Maybe ask your photographer what they normally do.

Ours was there. She was at the rehersal here. It was nice just casual group shots, nothing fancy but it was nice to have them.

Now mine said rehearsal, and from what I understand it will be the rehearsal, not the dinner. I think just some prewedding day pictures would be fun.

I've seen photographers at the rehearsal & rehersal dinner. Typically at the rehersal dinner one or both parents give their toasts to the bride and groom. The photographer does basically the same thing they do at the wedding but more candid shots of the rehearsal & during the dinner. As for the eating... it really depends on how long your rehersal & dinner will be as well as the time. The rehersals that I've been too the photographer did not eat - it was just work for them. The photographer also wasn't there throughout the entire dinner - mainly was just there for the toast & the beginning part of dinner.

We are having our videographer at the rehearsal dinner for 1 hour because we did a wish box at our engagement party and sealed it. We are going to open it up at the rehearsal dinner and read it out to everyone and we wanted to ensure that we caught that on tape. Also, we will be able to get the giving of the gifts to the bridal party on tape as well. Very excited about that.

As a photographer, we often come to rehearsal dinners simply to meet the important people and get a feel of everyone's personalities. Often we go to the rehearsal as well as the dinner to see the layout of the venue, how the bride is doing everything (to make sure there are no surprises we might miss), and to make a game plan.

It is polite to provide your photographer, but you do not have to. I would suggest you say whether you are or not so they can plan accordingly. Normally rehearsal dinner photos are candids and fun moments for the couple.

    Hope this helps!
