Photo booth? Yes or no?

Andrea, on June 10, 2014 at 1:25 PM Posted in Planning 1 25

I really want to get a photo booth, and I'm trying to convince my fiance that its worth it. We're on a fairly tight budget, but I feel like it will make out daytime wedding.more fun. Anyone have photo booth experiences (as host or guest) that you'd like to share?

I have two thoughts about Photobooths. One, I think they are fun and I do usually throw the pictures up on my fridge or hang them up in my office.

Two- I think they take away from the party a little bit. At the last wedding I went to the photobooth had a major line and people were not on the dance floor but instead were in line for the photobooth. We are paying good money for entertainment and I want to make sure people are out on the dance floor!

We had one and it was awesome!!! We had it in the outer hallway, so it didn't really disrupt the party like @KochBride mentioned. Although I can see how if its in the actual reception room it can take away a bit.

But I will say it was a gift and a curse. People loved it, we loved it, but it just added to the time people want with you. So not only were we getting stopped in the reception for photos, then everyone wanted to take photos with us in the booth. So it can dominate your time, but I definitely do not regret it!

My cousin had one at her wedding and it was so much fun! We are definitely getting one for ours and the prints will be part of the guest favors since we get a CD of all of the pictures. Our photographer is supplying the booth for an addition $450 with unlimited prints. Maybe one of your vendors can supply one as an add on for a cheaper price. Doesn't hurt to ask!

I think they are soo much fun, FH and I both agreed that its something we want to have at our wedding. Check Groupon, I've seen them on there occasionally for really good pricing

I loveee them. The last 2 weddings I've been to had one and they were super hits. I have the pictures still, in my classroom and on my fridge at home.

We are having one. It is included in my photography package with unlimited 4x6 guest prints. It isn't an actual "photobooth" that you sit in...they bring back drops and props and a third photographer who just does that. The pictures along with magnetic frames will be the favors.

A friend had one at his wedding, and it was so much fun! I don't recall there ever being a line. We (as guests) just jumped in when we decided it was time to use it. It was in the same room as the rest of the reception, and didn't take anything from the reception.

We're having one at our wedding, and I'm really excited about it!

I love wedding photo booths! HOWEVERRRRR are you a dancing and partying bride? I have heard stories about the attention being taken away from the bride/wedding/dancing/all the other wedding activities because people are in the photo booth...so my opinion as a guest, they're awesome, BUT as a bride, you are spending all this money on a wedding, enjoy it and take some pics but a photo booth is a waste. If you want to have props, ask the DJ to hand them out and it will help get people on the dance floor!

We're having one, i just booked mine and cost $350 for 4 hours with unlimited pics for the guests. I never been to a wedding/or event that had a photobooth but I hear its alot of fun, and can substitute as a party favor ( thats what I'm doing)

My vote is no only because we decided not to do one. It's one less thing you have to worry about and will save you a little bit of $$.

We're having one from 7 p.m. when cocktail hour begins until 11 p.m., an hour before the reception ends. One picture will go in the scrapbook and the other is the guest favor. We have unlimited pics and a CD and it will be located in the reception room. Our reception room is pretty big and our guest list is only approx 70 people. We're looking forward to it. Ours has lights and music, and we're recording a video that will play at the beginning of each person's shoot welcoming and thanking them for coming Smiley smile

We found a great deal on living social for one for 4 hours! I would check there or groupon. I love photo booths and they're always fun at weddings!

As a guest we loooooved having a photobooth to play in to break up the evening. As a bride we looooooooveee the idea of having one lol. It will triple as a guest book and possibly a favor (depending on pricing).

We are planning to DIY the photobooth to save some $$. At bestbuy and amazon you can get a small wireless camera remote (guests can pose and discreetly snap the shot) and tripod for well under $50. Just make sure you have plenty of memory! We plan to have fun collecting the props (post Halloween sales) & there are many good diy backdrop ideas on pinterest. Hope that helps!

We went back and fourth on this a lot. In the end we decided to not have one . In my area it's been over done, yes they are fun but we already have favors. My coworker just got married and didn't have one and I didn't really miss it.

I personally don't like them. They make me feel like I'm in a shopping mall or something.

No photo booth for me! FH and I both think it deters from the whole point of the reception...getting to celebrate together with all our friends and family! no need for added (and expensive) entertainment.

I went to a wedding last summer where they had one it was a lot of fun but a lot of money for what it was... I made my own open photo booth for my little cousin bday it was so easy and fun to do...not expensive at all...it can be something your bridesmaids can help you with go to michaels and buy some wood figures and paint them add some sticks and buy a white background...if you want to be fancy you could print out the your names on it...I will be doing that for my wedding

We got a photobooth included in our photographer package and it was sooooo worth it! The pics from it are so hilarious and fun and my guests all had a blast. She provided everything for it including a background and all of the props.
