Do we need them? are there ones we can get for around 300 and under? To rent maybe? Perhaps some alternatives to photo booths... or are they even necessary.??

I been to a couple of weddings that had it!

    Pro: It was fun

Con: Long lines and people pretty did not dance or pay much attn to the couple because they were busy standing in line and trying to take pictures. Dance floor was EMPTY!

This is one of those things you gotta ask yourself " will my reception be fun with or without a photo booth".

Plus some of them r only for 4hrs and some of the prices are exoensive. Plus not sure if we will have room for one to be setup inside our reception venue.

So this is a toss up for us n if we really want this at our wedding or could we live without it.

For my wedding, nay. I don’t want to spend the money and I’m only having 15 guests.

The DJ I hired also offers a photo booth! I opted for the photo booth because they will provide a "scrapbook" with it. So everyone who takes a photo strip will get a copy for themselves and also one to put in our book and be able to sign. We are going to use that as our guest book!!

I do not much care for photo booths, but hubby's family wanted one. We ended up with a compromise we were happy with: The photographer had his assistant set up with a backdrop on one side, large window at right angles, in foyer of Inn. And initially for 1½ hours during dancing, took any picture of any individual or group, on request. So popular, they did it for 2 full hours. Big hit. . . We had smartphone and digital quality camera pics during the short times wanted for getting ready. And saved all our photographers for pictures before the ceremony, with families, with bridal party. And we had a short B and Groom session. So we were with guests all but 10 min. From ceremony beginning to reception end in the wee hours. And felt the photos taken on request of anyone wanting them were far more worthwhile than pro pics earlier in the day. And one person was inside reception, while the second did this. Much cheaper than a photo booth. Better pictures.

I think they're a fun idea. I don't plan on having one to cut costs but if I had the budget I would do it.

I'm setting up a DIY photobooth with Polaroid camera for people to use. They can take the photos home as favors and it gives people something to do while we take pics.

I found some ideas on pinterest for a diy photobooth, but as was mentioned in an earlier comment, I think an attendant would be a good idea to encourage guests to use it. I'm still undecided if were doing one at all. If we do, I'd really like to get the one that prints the pics instantly because I love those pictures. Reminds me of being a kid with my dad.

For my wedding we are using the photo booth pictures as part of the favors. Personally I would rather have a picture, or multiples, to take home with me than some chatchski.

Hi! I am really wanting one, so of course if you can afford it, go for it! I STILL have my strip of photos on my fridge from my cousin's wedding fromlike 8 years ago.

Oops, hit send too early. I would say we are in a mid to low cost wedding area and the DJ we have hired can provide the booth for an additional $650. There's a $100 discount due to it being "off season".

    Necessary? No.
    Am I having one? Yes.
It was super important that we get printed strips too, so I made sure we got the kind where they print instead of digital.
Ours also has the book where guests can sign too.
It's a cute fun idea, but if you don't want to spend the $$, don't.

I got a photo booth for my wedding in December. Mainly because you'll get some priceless and fun pictures of your friends and family. I got lucky because the DJ I hired also rented photo booths and we got it included as a bundle! Win!
