I set a budget, saved so much a month, paid what I could as I went (my dress for example), and looked for bargains as much as possible.

That’s awesome little by little .. wondering how many are paying cash vs credit or a loan?

We have a lot already saved - not intentionally, I’m just a saver. But whatever we take from our savings, we plan to replace over the next year or so. We are cutting back on some silly spending (going out to eat a lot, entertainment stuff) etc. also, my fiancé is selling his home so once that sells and we don’t have two mortgages, it will be easier to replenish our savings. We don’t want to finance anything If we can help it and many of the vendors offer discounts if we don’t use credit cards.

I graduated from highschook about 4 years ago. When I did I was eligible to receive a sum of money my grandparents had first given to my parents when I was born. I opened a savings account or whatever it's called with a good interest rate and immediately transferred that money there where it was locked in for a year or so just growing and I would add to it as well since I had gotten my first job. I was intending to use the money to buy my first car, had a 3 year and 5 year plan mapped out.
But for some reason I just never bought the car. My parents had one I used. So I just kept saving anyways. Then fast forward to me getting engaged. I had almost $8 or $9k set aside. My fiance and I decided not to use all of it for the wedding only 5k, the rest I moved into it's own savings account for future/housing/car needs. We were blessed to receive an additional $3k from my parents, and then $3k from his. I've been attempting to track expenses in an excel spreadsheet but not doing super well. Now we are 2 months from the wedding and I'm feeling like I'm running out of money fast so we will probably go over budget in the end. But we will not be going into debt and that was the goal

We wouldn’t have been able to have the wedding we did without parent contributions. If parents didn’t contribute we would’ve used some money from savings and had a much smaller wedding or eloped.

My dad contributed some and the rest is what my fiance and I budgeted to save every month

Agreed! We have set a budget and are working to stay in that. And it helps to pay as we go. For example we are sending in our venue rental payment now but the bar package cost isn’t due until just before the wedding.

My parents are helping and my FFIL is helping with the rehearsal dinner and alchohol. But my FH and I are still contributing.

We set a budget based off of our current savings and what we could afford to save leading up to the wedding. I would never take out loans or use credit cards to pay for a party.

We are paying cash. We have been engaged for 2 years (2 1/2 the by wedding date) so having a long engagement has allowed us to save. I’m also doing a lot of DIY’s like centerpieces, invitations, signage, etc so that has definitely helped a lot as well!

The only thing i have put on my credit card so far is my deposit for my dress and the makeup artist.

We are paying for everything in cash, essentially. But we use a cash back credit card for the monthly payments to the venue, large deposits, etc. and then pay the card off to avoid interest.

The problem is most of my vendors charge a fee of 3% more for cc. I’m trying to send checks when I can.

My husband got overtime work and i got a side job for a short period so those two together paid for the wedding without us touching any of our own savings.

Fiancé and I are paying for everything by ourselves. Saving each month, putting so much money aside as if it was a monthly bill and getting stuff little by little over time. engagement is a total of 18months big day 5/30/20 just about everything is done now!

A little bit on credit cards (less than $1k), parental contributions for one-third of the cost, and then I’m paying for the rest. Tax return and 2 bonuses (last year, then this year).

It's so hard. So I left a job that I had "stake in". I took the money because I decide to go back to school and focus 100% on my studies while my FH works (I worked while he went back to school). So I've dropped about 7k already (venue, dress, retainer fee for photographer, and little other things). But I'm almost out of money. Money is tight while I'm not working so it's hard to save with all our bills. Everything is paid off except our house. Luckily, my dad has offered to pay for catering and my grandmother is paying for the flowers. We are also hoping FMIL will pay for Dj and alcohol. We do have a big support system but it's very hard for us to ask for help.

My FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and determined early on that we didn’t want to go into debt and take out loans for any reason. We set a budget and are paying for everything out of pocket and then utilizing anything that we get in cash gifts to go towards our future.

We put money aside monthly for 15 months, and put a cash gift from my mom into our account. Then we went way over budget and put a few extra deposits and a few thousand on credit cards we paid off.

2/3 was offered by my parents thankfully, because I do have 1/3 of our budget already saved but it wouldn't be enough for any wedding in my family's area. Can't say how my parents are doing it, but I have this money invested at the moment but can be pulled out as cash anytime. I feel pretty good because I know we can also pay for little things along the way from our month to month salary and it won't hurt us.
