Period during your wedding night/honeymoon!?

Princess Crystal, on January 31, 2016 at 9:01 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 37

This might be a little TMI for some of you, but here I am totally needing help! According to my period calendar I might be on my period either on my wedding night or during my honeymoon, depending if it comes early or on time. I am not on birth control so there's no way to mess it up that way. So, can anyone tell me how else I can mess it up? *Stress level high*

Do you use birth control? If so, talk to your primary care about making sure you have it for those days so you can skip. ETA: That only works for the hormone birth control pills.

@becomingamrs my FH and I planned around my period too when we set the date, but my period has been getting here earlier and earlier each month which now means I might have it on my wedding night or honeymoon.

Maybe you can take birth control up until your wedding so you can try to regulate it somehow? Then stop taking it after the wedding if you don't want to be on it?

The only way to mess it up is by going on birth control. or u can hope and pray that if ur stressed out enough it will push ur period back.

This is prob bad advice but maybe a nurse can chime in... If you took plan b it may delay your start date

I did the same thing and picked my date around mine which is typically very predictable. Not so much since I started my wedding planning & have the added stress. It's been very early the last few months & it's looking very likely I will be on it for either the wedding or honeymoon. I'm not on birth control either because we want to start trying right after we get married. Guess I'm just going to hope it all works out. Good luck with yours too!

Plan b will not always make your period come. Also with added stress or even starting to work out can change your period. Only thing that could most likely help control is being on bc however it really is not recommended to take for only a couple of months in sake of not getting it during a specific time.

So there are ways to "induce" your period supposedly (you can find it online).. not really sure if it works. (It's like taking more Vitamin C.. Iron.. there are some herbs like, ginger, rosemary, sage, parsley.. drinking apple cider vinegar. They say even trying to take time to relax - taking a day off, a hot bath).

Maybe if you were to induce it earlier, you can change your schedule?

Honestly, I'm not sure if it's even a healthy thing to do.. I'm not a nurse. I highly suggest you talk to a medical professional.

Talk to your Obgyn, there is a prescription she can give you called norethisterone that will delay your period.

Sucko! I got mine the day after the wedding, and I used softcups, hoping we could still do it. They sucked.

So my recommendation is to pray to God.

    Oh dear lord, the misinformation!

You cannot alter your period without hormones. Your period ALWAYS comes after your body's luteal phase, which begins immediately following ovulation. It is typically the same every cycle. To alter with plan B, you would have to know just when you're about a day from ovulating, and take it and HOPE it delays ovulation. It doesn't always. It can cause breakthrough bleeding, but that is not the same as a period.

I highly suggest seeing your gyn and discussing the issue. They can give you hormones to take on specific days of your cycle to delay ovulation, thus changing your cycle. Please don't try any of the "period inducing" suggestions. They aren't going to work. The body doesn't work that way.

I use Seasonale, and realized a couple of weeks ago I would be on my period for my destination wedding in Mexico. So instead of the 10 weeks my body does on the pill (it never does the whole 12 weeks!), I had my period this week/last week, and will again in 8 weeks, (5 weeks before the wedding).

If you are nervous about birth control, there is a prescription to try if you want. I think someone mentioned it.

There are many types of bc if you're nervous about the pill: an IUD (although my dr wouldn't let me get it because we plan on ttc within 5 years - this was a few years ago ), the ring, which I've used and wasn't keen on, the patch, I wasn't keen on either (I broke out in rashes)...

I'm not a nurse or anything, but birth control might be your best bet.

Why is your stress level so high? It's perfectly possible (and not even messy) to have sex during your period. (If you've taken out a tampon just before you start, you will not bleed onto the bed, although you may need a bit of lubricant.) It's a minor inconvenience, not a huge stress.

Ugh. I was on my period for almost all of my honeymoon. I tried to reschedule it to be earlier by drinking insane amounts of green tea to make it come earlier (method my bff has used successfully) but it didn't work for me, in part cuz we were traveling and it was hard to keep up with.

I get married in three days, and guess who came to visit early? My period. The cramps and bloating are real, and it's my hope that it slows down enough come wedding day. I cannot provide you with any health-related support other than to say, just go with the flow.

    Sighs.

    Best of luck!
