Period bloat durring wedding

Stephanie, on February 5, 2018 at 1:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
Ok, hopefully this post isn't TMI. I'm most likely going to have my period during my wedding and I always get super bloated. My dress is already snug, so this has been stressing me out. I've never actually taken anything to try to deal with the bloat before, I just suck it up until its over. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do or take that might help? As of now, I just plan on taking midol and hoping for the best.

I have the same issue but luckily my periods not due to fall on my wedding day (unless things change by June).. my advice would be just to make sure you’re drinking a ton of water in the weeks before your wedding.. and stay away from salt/high sodium foods and drinks. Sometimes the bloat is unavoidable but those things should definitely help😊

Was going to suggest the same things! The cleaner I eat and the more water I drink, the less I bloat during my period.

Yup. Cut out bread, sugar and salt. I plan on doing that the weeks leading up to the wedding.

If you're on birth control pills, bring this up with your doctor. Skipping the sugar pills has been shown to have minimal side effects (in the short term!!! Doing this consistently can cause heart problems and lower bone density). It will keep you from getting your period that month.
I am not a doctor, and you should DEFINATELY check with your doctor first.

I have endometriosis and I bloat at very random times throughout the month, so I've been wondering the same thing. I can go from looking flat to looking 4 months pregnant overnight! Usually drinking a lot of water helps to flush my system, but sometimes it backfires. Make sure you are cutting out anything salty in the week or two leading up to the wedding.

Tons of water, cut salt, sugar, and artificial anything. No soda, even chewing gum can cause gas/bloating.

In addition to cutting out the crap food .. sometimes I find these two things help (unless they're just in my bead, but can't hurt to give it a try)

Drink Green Tea. (I make a big pitcher of hot green tea using 3 tea bags .. and then let it hit room temp before putting in the fridge ... lasts about a week)

Apple Cider Vinegar. Take a shot of it (make sure it has the mother.) tastes awful at first so make sure to have a glass of water on hand

Definitely what other PPs said, but also just a word of caution - I've done many "resets" or "cleanses" with high-fiber diets and during them I was SO bloated. It's a natural effect from the high fiber diet but it wasn't great. So make sure any dietary changes you make you are doing for a few weeks before the wedding!

I second the green tea suggestion. My doctor had me start drinking a cup a day to help with water retention.

There are essential oils that may help. Research them

Avoid chocolate couple days before and during your period.
