Not sure where you are, but if you are close to orthodox Jewish areas we/ they have modest clothes cheap.

I second amazon or maybe just look in stores for maxi dresses that are more modest?

I'd also look after the holidays since everything will be on sale

I've spent most of the morning on lulus.com and they have a good amount of affordable dresses. Most maxi dresses are $48-90 but you can sign up for 10% off your first order and if you really look you will probably be able to find something even better than that. They also have most dresses available in several colors.

I used to be apostolic so i know the struggle. My one friend had the girls wear a fluffy tulle skirt with their choice of a white blouse.

You might also try Etsy. There are dressmakers on there who can customize dresses to your needs. We ordered our BM dresses for my sister's wedding on there, and one of her BMs was Mennonite. We were able to customize her dress.
