Pennsylvania September Weddings

Devon, on May 12, 2020 at 1:26 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 16
Hi everyone, my fiancé and I are set to get married September 5 this year. I’m torn whether to keep planning for that date or to see if my vendors can reschedule due to Covid. I’m wondering if anyone else is getting married around this time and what they are planning on?

We’re supposed to get married on September 19th in central NY. Before everything with COVID-19 broke out, we pretty much already had everything set in stone for vendors. Even had our guest book and a couple signs with our names and date on it. As of right now, we are just waiting to see what happens. But we both decided if this really does go on until September, we will still get married on that day and then postpone our reception for when things are back to normal (especially cause the venue is already paid for and nonrefundable but you can change the date 😅) . I’m just honestly praying this doesn’t go on until then, and my heart goes out to all the couples that have been affected.

I’m the same date as you, getting married in Minneapolis but currently living in Chicago. Truthfully I’m not sure what to do. There are so many conflicting comments/decisions, and the general consensus from vendors are to “wait but have a plan B”. My guest count will be around 200, so larger. Logistically speaking I wouldn’t be able to postpone with my venue until 2 months out and they will transfer that deposit. If I cancel, I lose out on the deposit. I’m sort of boxed into waiting until end of June/early July to make any decisions so that’s what I’m planning on, and in the meantime just trying to stay sane! I definitely recommend checking with your vendors on what they can do for you. Good luck!!

We are planning for October 10 in Philadelphia. We are still planning to go forward. Last time we spoke with our venue they were only rescheduling weddings through July. I think depending on where in PA you should be fine.

    What part of Pennsylvania?

We are supposed to be August 28th in the Valley Forge/King of Prussia area. We have spoken to the venue/caterer and pretty much all agree we will likely be in the yellow phase at this point (25 people maximum). We are trying to negotiate to get the catering minimum down and try to proceed with a 25 person wedding at our venue otherwise as planned. If they won't work with us, we are also considering postponing a year, but we do fear that we could find ourselves in a similar position one year from now as the vaccine is unlikely to be available until next fall (if then even). I'm struggling a lot with the uncertainty. I feel like it sucks not having the big wedding we've been planning, but it sucks more just not knowing what we are dealing with, what our options will be, and how long we will be in limbo. I then feel guilty about feeling frustrated because at least so far we are still healthy! Fingers crossed that more answers/direction will emerge soon!

We are getting married October 4 in Pennsylvania. At this point we are just keeping an eye on CDC guidelines. We can’t make a concrete decision until July/August, because we never know what will happen over the summer or at the end of it. We are keeping in contact with our venue as well, because they’ve been very generous and understanding with everything. Your vendors should also be watching their state’s guidelines as the weeks go by.
Come October, we are still having our wedding, even if we have to cut our guest list.

I’m getting married in Pennsylvania early October. Our venue doesn’t suspect we will have any problems but we are monitoring the situation. We’re getting married that day regardless and will just have close family and friends if that’s what we have to do. Our guest list at most is about 80 right now so but a huge wedding but I’m just hoping we don’t have to have our guests wear masks. I’m also concerned about having to social distance because how can you dance? Hug everyone? It’s a crazy time but I just taking it day by day and trying not to stress to much because it’s just out of my control at this point and it’s affecting sooo many of us.

We are getting married in Telford, Montgomery county. We have everything planned and ready to go, I’m just worried about the maximum people able to attend. We’re inviting close to 200 guests. I haven’t sent invites out yet, but I’m not sure if I should order soon. We do have a backup date held at our venue, I just don’t know whether to keep moving forward or hold off. Thank you for your input!! I hope everything goes smoothly with your wedding!

I am also 9/5/20 and in PA! As of right now, we are continuing to move forward with our date and planning. However, we do have a back up date already scheduled with our venue and vendors for 9/18/21 to be safe. Nerves got the best of me a few weeks ago and I reached out to my venue for a plan B… I am very happy that I did because they only had five Saturday dates open for next year!! We are waiting until mid June to make a final decision because our invitations will need to go out then because of our room block deadline. I don’t know where you live in PA, but my county is still in the red phase and yellow seems to be nowhere in sight 😞 Every day I go back and forth....its so hard!!

My county is also in the red! We have a backup date with our venue for 11/14/2020 but I’m wondering if that’s not far out enough for a backup date. I would need to check with my vendors still to see if they can hold that date as well. But I haven’t sent out invites yet either, I’m just waiting to see. I hate being at a standstill. I haven’t gotten my dress altered yet, or had the groomsmen sized at Men’s Warehouse. I’m just conflicted!!

I totally get it and feel the same way. I really dont want to cancel but some days I think it would be easier and the stress would be gone!! My dress also needs to be altered, we didn’t even look at suits yet or have our rings. That was all stuff we were planning to do these past few months. I did confirm our alternate date with our vendors and all have been very accommodating so far. My plan now is to reach out to our venue the first week of June to see what their thoughts are. I do not want to have to social distance, wear masks, rearrange my seating plan etc so if thats the case we will definitely be postponing!

What county are you in if you dont mind me asking?

Thankfully, all the things we have left to do, don’t take too long to figure out! I’m getting married in Montgomery County...so one of the worst counties hit. I’m hopeful we will be in the yellow phase soon as numbers keep going down, but ultimately will make a decision and talk to our venue come June. I don’t want to social distance or wear a mask either, but we are inviting almost 200 guests so I’m sure some rules will still be in place by then.

I am up in the northeast and we are also still in the red and our numbers continue to remain fairly high each day. Our target number of new cases per day in order to move to yellow is 7 and we averaging 20ish per day. Ugh! I go through phases where I think we will be able to keep our date, and then I have days where I think we will definitely need to postpone. Being up in the air is the worst part! I hope we both can find some type of answers soon!!

Hello! My fiancé and I are scheduled to get married Sept 12, 2020 in the Pittsburgh area. We are waiting it out as long as possible! We have a 250+ guest list due to large families on both sides so cutting down to less than 150 is going to be close to impossible. Trying to just stay positive!

I heard from my venue yesterday and while I already knew this information...I think actually hearing it from them put the nail in the coffin for me personally. They said that they would have to follow CDC guidelines which means guests (and us!) will have to wear masks, guests who live together will need to sit near each other/away from others, limiting the number of people inside vs outside based on square footage, and possibly operating at 25% of their max occupancy. It just makes me sad to picture my wedding this way so I think we will more than likely be postponing.

I’m hoping things will be able to change before then! I’m sorry to hear that...if that is the same for us, we will be postponing as well.

I have a large guest list as well-close to 200 guests. I’m trying to stay positive as well! Thankfully Pittsburgh is in the yellow, I hope everything works out for you.
